Season 19 - Placement calcs still not accurate

As opposed to spending money on OW2 with out fixing the problems?

Q1. So what is the highest placement you can achieve in placement matches? (answer first)

Q2. If you achieve bronze with 4/5 wins, where would you be ranked for a 5th win? (answer in relation to question 1)

This makes utterly no sense to me. Can anyone else decipher this (VOD) video on demand comment?

Actually, Blizzard ‘claims’ it is partially based on performance coupled with previous season performance. It is not solely based on performance in placement, and likewise not on previous seasons performance alone. If you are right and it’s not based on performance, why bother having placement matches at all, since none of that would matter. If you are being rhetorical… I missed that.

If you think that is actually how their algorithm actually evaluates, and determines a placement rank, you are sadly mistaken. The computing power alone to evaluate one match for one player alone would tie up a processor for at least 15 minutes. Multiply that by the 10’s of thousands of players, then again by five for each match, and you would be lucky to get your placement by the start of the following season.

This is my point.

For example.

My support finished 1188 (high)
My DPS finished 1490 (high)

same win loss on placements
DPS performed better than support based on medals (dmg, elims, point, point elims - healing is kinda a skew but swap any one of those for heals, and the dps still out performed on the other areas)

Final placement

Support 1288
DPS 1150

Q1 how is DPS’s final placement rank, “a small change” from his previous season high

Q2 How can a support achieve a higher rank when his starting off point is lower, his performance is not as good?
