Scared to que in Comp

I have a problem where if I get to my new peak and even beyond that I get major anxiety during games. I started at gold a couple months ago and I’ve slowly climbed to where I am now, 3490. I’ve just been too scared to que for my masters game because it’s always been my goal

I just qualified 3050 on OQ and im terrified to play one game incase I drop to plat xD

It’s the highest i’ve EVER been BY FAR and I want to keep it for as long as possible.

Theres always two side…

  1. You can always climb the more you play so go for it… as long as your always improving nothing can stop you.

or…

  1. This game has a flaw and numerous people have noted (including me) that sometimes you will experience a “drop” in SR. So to value a personal best is a real treasure to hold on to.

Yh but in my case it’s not because I think the system is going to screw me, I just don’t want to lose the shiny badge I worked for xD

I used to be Bronze! Clearly I climbed, where my skill ceiling is, who knows, probably where I am now tbh haha.

Make sure you’re warmed up.

Trick yourself with a better goal, pretend like you are 4500 player who is smurfing 1000 elo below actual rank, so you feel like these masters games are like plat games for you.

I was once in 2550. I’m now 800. No matter how low I go, I know I was once 2500+.

Yeah I have that right now except I played the game won and just dont care anymore.

Why do you play for a number instead of just playing to get better.

Once your focus swaps, you dont really care if your next game is a W or L, its just about how you performed because thats what even brings you sr.

Why do you wanna be 3.5 if you cant consistently climb that high with your own skill anyway, just ask yourself those questions.

I always suggested for comp to turn off all the number badge bling. Still serious but u won’t know your rank nor of others.

Like going to the casino and not seeing how much you won or how much money you have.

make alt and get it to ur own SR should be easier

I kinda get what you’re saying but how can you really say you’re a ‘masters’ level player if you’re scared of getting in the pool?

Are you really a diamond level player then if you’re scared to test yourself in that rank?

I suffer really badly with anxiety I know how you feel, even if I’m not close to a rank. I don’t know why I get like it, but I have to really calm myself down before I can queue otherwise it’ll probably go really bad for me. In your case I think it’s just because you are worried too much about the number I think you should try to relax with a bit of music before you try playing, and just saying the more you focus on the number, the more stressed out you can become if you lose.

Who knows, qualified as diamond and haven’t played since. Some things are best left to mystery.

Translation: “I like the shiny badge and don’t want to lose it as I may have made this rank by a fluke…”

If by translation you mean you just typed nearly EXACTLY what I said then… I guess? Not sure what point you’re making here haha, but i’ve always wanted a parrot :stuck_out_tongue:

Well if it was the old days he would have to play or he’d slowly go down to 3000 with decay

:joy:

…but he’d still have his shiny badge! :frowning: Boo I say, Boo! :frowning:

Its ok, you need to stay below 3k for 5 games to lose your diamond rank. And OQ Diamonds are mostly plat RQ players anyway😂
