Hog is not good right now. Not quite dumpster tier during peak GOATS era but not far off. He gets dunked all over by anyone with a brain cell (or even a semblance of teamwork)

Sounds like trash game design to me. In a lot of ways he’s in the same boat as doomfist. Just bad design in the end I’d say.

When comp FFA comes around and literally every lobby is full of Hogs and Crees, there’s a reason for that. He doesn’t need his instant kill combo AND his massive health pool AND his take a breather in FFA. It’s all overkill that quickly frustrates EVERYONE into either going Hog themselves, or just leaving the match.

it’s anecdotal. That happens often in your games. I rarely see more than one Hog in any FFA I play. That’s not enough to justify banning him or removing his abilities just because people are frustrated.
Sure, but there’s almost always at least one hog and he usually gets a very high score because he gives so much free value. It takes A LOT of effort to fight him whereas he can easily kill you. Essentially, killing him is worth way less than him killing you, and that’s not to mention that other people think like that too, so the squishier hero will always be the target.
Personally, I mercilessly hunt down and only focus hogs when I play FFA and using Echo in particular turns out to be not as difficult as other heroes, but yeah, that part is anecdotal.
Here’s another anecdote: I’ve been able to play Hog (a hero I don’t play very often) using nothing but his gun and his bulk, never using hook nor heal, and still getting top 4 with ease.

it’s still anecdotal. You seeing him a lot and others feeling the same way is also the complete opposite for other players. So with that in mind, why should he be treated any different simply because you have a different experience than me? It doesn’t make sense.
And if you’re getting top four with ease without using his heal or hook shows just how many players need to improve. Which is all of us, but that’s highlighted by the majority of us that suck at this game.
my problem with hog is that its not how good of a tank he is or how punishes out of position tanks or players. i mean he needs it to be relavant (so no to nerfs)…
my issue is that so many people play him the wrong way, there are a lot of bad hogs compared to good ones out there or people dont play him correctly. a hog who feeds is worse than a rein who makes mistakes or has bad plays. i also hate how selfish his playstyle can be and how many people play him selfishly especially when paired with another selfish style tank like ball. a ball/hammond duo off flanking and doing there own things but not being good at it while the enemy tanks just waltzes right through your team or pushes the point with no contention really sucks
My point is that he gets free value, and that’s not even anecdotal, that’s literally from an objective standpoint. Just because he has these tools, he has far easier match-ups against enemy heroes, and in turn, every other hero has a harder time against him.
He’s not a particularly hard character to play AND he gets a lot out of his kit. This was literally the same reason everyone bashed on Brig (and still continues to do so), so yeah he shouldn’t get a free pass just cause he has a gun.
I never said she should get a free pass. I’m saying he shouldn’t have to be treated different for what his strengths are in FFA. Every hero has a value that is annoying or frustrating to deal with in a different situation. We’ll just agree to disagree on this one.

I disagree. It takes one decent Ana/Reaper/Mei/Brig to kill a hog. Literally just wait until
you see hook go off then go wild. Hog becomes a problem of the past.
Thank God I’m not the only one frustrated by the fact that I have to worry about a “tank” being more deadlier than DPS heroes minus Hanzo or Widow lol
I literally do not consider him a tank. He does nothing to make space for the team. “Killing power” being a spacemaker is applicable to some DPS heroes so I guess they are tanks, too. c:

The main people who whine about Hog are DPS mains who think they should be able to 1v1 anything in the game.
He’s a non-issue amongst other tank players thanks to the prevalence of D.Va, Sigma, Rein and Zarya, not to mention a counter-Hog, and on support, Ana, the most popular hero in the game by a country mile, is an instant shutdown on him. Zen is another really strong anti-Hog support, Bap, Brig and Lucio can all deny him in a variety of ways too. Decent movement from Mercy and he really can’t do anything to you.
It’s literally just DPS players complaining about him…
Which is ironic because they then just queue him while on tank.
My problem with Hog is he doesn’t do enough. He does nothing for his team other than play fat DPS. He needs a buff and ability rework so he offers more defense and has more incentive to play around his team.
When I play tank its so frustrating to play with and into a hog. When I play with a hog he always goes off and does his own thing so I have to pick sig or ball to survive and against hog he shreds tanks for breakfast

I often find myself confused about people complaining about tank busters but omitting Hog from their complaints.
Because he “is” a tank, I guess? But he’s not. He is a fat DPS…and he is a problem for tanks.
When someone brings up tank busters, hog echo zen are the first 3 that come to mind lol
He was helpful and fun to play with at least for a brief stint when Orisa could solo barrier.
I know you’ve hit 4k SR, but is Orisa just a complete non-factor against Hog at that SR?
Or is she just too fragile vs the rest of the enemy comp?
