No, bro, it is just because stream snipers. When a plat plays like a plat, they are really just trolling him or complete “canine excrement players without brains” as we all know. He would not have struggled at all off stream. Lord Samito is too good for that.
Nah, doubt it, don’t use stream snipers as excuse for hours of play trying to climb as Brig, when Brig is suppose to be Broken.
I was just being sarcastic. Samito’s pride will not allow him to admit the truth, he just has to have an excuse.
Sure , great streaming one of a clickbait content creator who go to mess up into a lot of rankeds of people who try to improve little by little…
great streamings indeed.
Not exactly. I was told on here by a programmer that unranked to GM simply exploits the matchmaker to create the illusion of rapid progress. It makes the person seem like a God but it isn’t that simple even if they are a great player.
In the beginning at lvl25 the system is trying to predict your correct rank and will over compensate to try and place you correctly. This enables people to rise much quicker than they otherwise would as the system doesn’t want strong players grinding away in lower ranks. It would rather place them as high as their ability allows as quickly as possible.
An account which is well established with hundreds of levels will have way more accurate matchmaking. There won’t be huge swings in SR even if you play really well in a few games. This is how ELO matchmaking works. In the beginning the system will push you up very quickly if you keep winning and can play at the higher rank. Obviously a GM player can meet the criteria so they keep rising rapidly as the system adjusts for their impact at each rank. It is like a snowball rolling downhill collecting snow. It gets bigger as long as it maintains momentum.
In reality a GM playing on a hardstuck account would find the climb takes longer and it would look less dramatic, less Godlike. It would not snowball because all the MMR stats would be fixed and it would take ages to adjust. So the idea that a GM could take a hardstuck silver account and lift it into GM in a few hours - which is what unranked to GM suggests is not true. It would take much longer.
Anyway that is what was explained to me.
From my own experience, average Tanks just feed too much. If I’m Ana I would have my hands fulled just keeping them over half health, all my nades will be used on cooldowns for them alone. So, I won’t have the luxury of DPSing the aerial enemies, or going for the game winning nades at all. My Ana lost half of her impact just like that.
I would watch him if he wasn’t such a whiny kid
Isn’t this the same guy that gets tilted every time he dies to ‘easy’ heroes and then starts banning his chat the moment they rag on him for doing it?
So Brig wasn’t the braindead easy climb he claims it is?
surprised Pikachu face
It seems pretty reasonable to me. Even in high ratings support players take time to dps the enemy and look for big plays. You can carry to a point by staying alive forever and pumping out as much healing as you can, but once you reach the ratings where enemy players are actively seeking to make plays, that passive playstyle of willfully ignoring opportunities stops working. Supports in overwatch aren’t healbots, they have to make plays too. Their “primary style of play” isn’t standing around healing all day, it’s the same as every other hero - stay alive, charge your ult, and look for opportunities to punish enemy players for mistakes.
The reason it works so well when these people smurf (aside from their aim) is because they’re used to a much faster and more punishing decision making process. The chances of your maintank being deleted while you’re dpsing in a gm game are very high. But in plat? You’re probably not going to get punished for going on a flank and putting window behind the enemy team as bap unless you miss half your shots
I would agree with this assessment.
But I think it’s what makes this particular unranked to gm interesting. His new account should have favored him. And didn’t. Clearly there is more than just “skill” on x hero involved. And that includes and isn’t limited to his inability to use brig
I can’t express how happy this makes me, lol. He rails it’s such an easy route, I just wish he’d take it if it was so easy ![]()
Samito confirmed so bad that he cannot even climb on Brig. Lul.
Wasn’t there another streamer who did a similar thing… tried to play Mercy… couldn’t do anything… it’s almost like you lovely people just blindly accept something another person says
Yeah, it is a good question to what extent healers in low ranks should prioritise damage. Under what conditions should you switch from healing to all out DPS? I’m not really sure. If your team is noticeably weaker will switching your focus make it worse or better?
An unranked to GM would be useful to look at such things so I agree it isn’t without merit even if it distorts the matchmaker.
What’s the point of complaining about the ladder when the way this was discovered is THE problem with ranked?
Sort of proving my point in the other thread, that it is more difficult to win in lower ranks than it is in higher ones - you simply have to shoulder more of the burden more often.
Samito only had a DPS-healer-mode because he’s been playing DPS at a very high level for years. But what if he hadn’t? Very interesting to see what his climb would’ve been like then.
As much as I dislike samito I think you watching his stream and sharing this information was a good thing.
I absolutely agree that’s one reason I left I could never make it out of plat as support. Even though I know I would be doing all I can to heal or support my team and counter picking when needed.
I’m not really if the dps mindset so maybe this makes sense.
Trying to climb with mercy is insanely hard.
Either way I put comp behind me seasons ago so it doesn’t matter.
I would be shocked frankly, he doesn’t strike me as the thoughtful and introspective type and even if he did come to some realizations, he has built his entire cult around trashing heroes. I don’t think he could come out and say “I was wrong” when his chat hoots and hollers every time he gets a kill on a hero he complains about “BALANCED HERO”. It’s not just that his audience wouldn’t accept it, it’s also that they are also deplorable and seem likely to just bolster his ego and preconceived notions from budging.
If he does, good on him, but he’s in this group think bubble that I don’t think would allow it.
the ladder is a mess.
i lost 4 games in a row in high silver dps while being 3.3 in tank on an alt account ( i only played tank and never really touched dps hence the mmr disparity)
im 3.7 in dps on my main.
the playstyle in that sr range is so far from literally everything i know from the game and especially slower paced. i ended up taking good positions totally away from my team wondering why im the only one on highground or power positions, pushed every advantage without my team wondering why im not getting help, and pretty much did everything alone and couldnt win until i started playing widow and hanzo for instant results.
i couldnt understand why people would just sit on the objective, use ults at random, not push advantages and use cooldowns the second they saw red. i could not adapt well despite more than a 1500 sr difference. The only consistent success i had was mopping every ego duel someone took against me. Again i didnt start winning until i played characters that could kill people reliably without team damage. The way the game was played out was so alien because i had never placed lower than 2300 on any account.
diamond and masters habits didnt apply here and getting next to no resources can make you struggle regardless of your rank
