I’ve been experiencing elevated IND in certain Overwatch matches since the Wintersday patch. The problem occurs intermittently; a match will either run smoothly (stable 20 IND
) or experience issues (150-200 IND
). LATENCY
is unaffected at 50-80ms. It has always required multiple games for the problem to appear, and dropping the game to restart the client fixes the issue.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- Followed all steps in the Blizzard Network Troubleshooting guide
- Restarted my PC
- Re-installed Overwatch
- Installed new networking drivers
- Run WinMTR multiple times for several minutes while the issue was occurring-- see Pastebin results here: pastebin{dot}com/xjcc5PYx and here: pastebin{dot}com/vKdp6f2X
The issue has occurred intermittently on another machine in the same household, but I haven’t dug into any details.
I don’t have any networking experience, but the issue seems to occur between internal Blizzard servers. In this truncated example, it appears that server xe-0-0-1-1-br02-eqla1.as57976.net
has dropped 4/441 packets with an instance of a 4,400 ms latency spike:
|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

| xe-0-0-1-1-br02-eqla1.as57976.net - 1 | 441 | 437 | 26 | 81 | 4403 | 29 |
Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue? Does this appear to be an ISP problem or a Blizzard internal problem? The Overwatch experience at 200 IND
is pretty goofy-- I made a silly video about it ( youtube{dot}com/watch?v=XMLE9KQ3ZFM ) but suffice to say that the desynch makes the game unplayable.
Apologies if this is a repost. I read many other posts related to latency problems but didn’t find any live threads that matched this situation.
