RTX 2080 - FPS issues

Hello, so I have recently swapped my 980 for the 2080. I have updated all my drivers and Windows. I notice the following weird behaviors.
-Loading screen shows 250 FPS, looking for match+ match completion drops to 60 FPS and when in game it will go 110-160 fps with random stutters. I am looking into other things on my PC, but wanted to check if this is unique to Overwatch/2080. When I was using my 980 I had consistent 55-60 fps… Also Overwatch does not detect my 2080…

The menu screens are normally not going into higher fps counts. I think I have around 60fps in menues… but in the game you really should have higher fps. maybe depends also on your cpu/mainboard/ram or other hardware, I don’t know but with my 1080ti on a 6core 3.7GhZ unlocked i reach up to 200 fps in game

I hear ya. I’m switching to SSD soon (for my Game storage). But aside from that, I think I have decent hardware. The weird thing is, you know you check Video settings on Overwatch, it detects what card you are using… but instead it has ???

While I think the SSD will help, can we look over a dxdiag? Can post here or on pastebin.

Ooof. Please try formatting that post so it doesn’t take up like 10 miles of Desktop. Or upload it to pastebin as mentioned already.

But I wonder how you can run on such low FPS with your machine anyways, there must be something off. On my rig I get 100-140 FPS on fairly good settings (my rig means: i7-2600 with a gtx970 and 16 gigs of ram on Win7).
Unless you are playing on a 4k monitor setup.

Try to have a look to the FPS guide here on the forums if you didn’t already.

Just to verify, can you also do these steps (I snagged these from an older post):

Open Nvidia CONTROL PANEL (not Geforce experience) > Select “Manage 3D settings” on the left panel > Click the “Program Settings” tab > Click the “Add” button and search for the Overwatch Application (If you ran the game recently it should appear, if not manually add the overwatch.exe, NOT LAUNCHER ) > Once selected then use the drop down menu below and select “High-performance NVIDIA processor” > Apply settings

I know the lack of recognizing a GPU can also be due to TDR errors, which Blizz mentions in the stickies here: Known Technical Support Issues - Updated Oct 13, 2021 - #11

Sorry for the late reply. I’ve been tinkering with all sort of things. Thankfully it seemed I had reach a stable performance 140-220 FPS (if you can call that stable Lol). But I just had a big Windows update and now I have the odd stuttering. I used the ctrl+shift+n tool to see what was the deal. From what I understood, this is something to do with my CPU? …

which is super odd, since it seem to be good until this update today… oof(<imgur. com /oBmgZeS>) (added spaces on this link, so just delete it to copy paste :c)

Are you talking about Windows build 1809? Because it’s been giving people a lot of problems, it actually broke the ability to use a lot of Windows apps and games.

yeah. but your previous tip did help! thanks :3
