Gained:
- Less toxicity and fighting over roles
- More balanced team comps
- No more people playing their worst role at their best role’s MMR
Lost:
- Hybrid type hero concepts (example: Brigitte)
- Creative and unconventional team comps (example: GOATS)
- Probable longer queue times or worse matchmaking as it now has to match 3 roles in addition to SR for 12 players
Are the gains worth those sacrifices? I think so, but it doesn’t feel like a big win to me
Yeah but now I get a free lootbox for supporting sometime
10/10
I think how one feels about this depends on who you main.
You’re a DPS main? Dark day for you.
You’re a support main? Moira buff looks cool.
You’re a tank main? Unless you main D.Va, today is a VERY GOOD DAY.
But I don’t really main anything, so I don’t know how I feel about this.
Then you’ll get to pick each game and you’ll get a ranking per class.
That is not going to happen.
If anything there will be MORE toxicity.
“Why did you queue as a support / tank you suck!”
“Dps why did you queue - I’m support and doing more damage / have more eliminations than you!”
etc. etc.
You severely over-estimate the playerbase.

Gains: Can rebalance heroes for viability in 2-2-2 scenarios.
Can buff Goats heroes without restoring Goats.
Role SR, no more gold tanks in Masters because you didn’t roll an actual tank player.
You basically just said “balanced team comps” 4 different ways
Looks like balanced team comps will have a lot of different effects on the quality of gameplay…
I do wonder if they’ve thought through all the new types of toxicity or trolling that could occur. Maybe the worst that happens is an influx of DPS mains playing Roadhog or Zenyatta and not really tanking or healing for their team.
