Just… Throwing that out there, in case Blizzard decides to read their own fourum.
If revival mechanics were in the game as a general mechanic, Resurrect being on cooldown wouldn’t be an issue.
However, Mercy is the sole hero with a revival tool of any kind, temporary or permanent. Therefore, it never should’ve left her Ult. There’s a reason Mercy became a balancing nightmare post Valkyrie rework.
Make it a fast charging, single target instant cast, make it an AOE multi target cast with a shorter cast time, make it a targeted buff that revives the target on death, etc. There’s a million and one ways to make a valuable and impactful Ult without the whole ‘Hide and rez’ playstyle. But you decided to go with the worst option and have slowly been destroying Mercy’s viability ever since, because of it. Simply because Resurrect is too powerful to have on a cooldown, even in it’s current state.
Resurrect should never have been made a cooldown. And Mercy will always be a balancing nightmare until you put it back where it belongs, or give her something else entirely.
I am down to put her Ressurection back as an Ultimate, however I seen this one idea and I really do like the idea.
The first idea is just to swap her Q and E; Valkryie is now on E and Resurrection is back on Q.
Valkyrie duration would only last for 5 seconds, with a cooldown of 10 seconds. Her beam would increase healing and damage boost at the same time, but instead of having multiple beams, it would be one beam. GA cooldown shortens and speed increases. Whenever she activates the ability, she heals in a small burst of 10m around her for 50HP.
Ressurection would be a fast charge 1280 ultimate charge, would be a single target that has a 0.5 cast time. However, Mercy activates Valk and then Res- the meter would be increased from 5m to 10m. The resurrection now turns into mass resurrection, but the cast time would increase by 0.5 per soul and the animation would resurrection each soul one at a time as the 0.5 cast is activating.
This means, she can still be killed during the casting time, but say 1 second has passed. before she is eliminated, then the two souls would have been resurrected. Mercy does not receive any I-Frames during this time or no damage reduction, so placement is key if she wants to do this, which also means she has to burn her cooldown to make this work if it works.
Why do you think Rez isn’t balanced today?
ANOTHER IDEA, would be to have Res tied to only when she is in Valkyrie, and replace her E with a new ability when she is not in Valk.
I saw this concept called, Mercy’s Halo which functions something like Harmony Orbs but instead of healing, the targets receive 25 damage reduction, which lasts for 5 seconds and has a cooldown of 5 seconds. The ability would grant damage reduction, and if the target gets below half health, then the target receives critical healing (increased healing) from MERCY ONLY, which the visual UI, would be a Halo above the player’s head.
Now when Valk is activated, the Mercy’s Halo gets replaced with Ressurection, which would function like today, but the speed reduction is removed.
