Return Stadium best-of-7

Are you going to address anything else in my response besides the one thing you think works in your favour? I don’t mean to be rude but this isn’t really a good discussion if you aren’t talking about what I’m saying and just ignoring it.

Edit - just seen your response so ignore this

Yes but it’s far more common and far harder to turn the game around, it’s much less balanced owing to the factors I mentioned above, for instance less time to collect kills on bounties, less % boost for cash difference in rounds, more power scaling faster. All of these skew the balance and lean heavily to snowballing power which is no fun for either team. It is boring to either lose or win a game with no chance for inbetween.

If you’re going to get steamrolled in comp, the score will be 3-0 and the game will end anyway, so whats the problem with leaving room for not getting steamrolled?

Same, I rarely come onto these forums. But I am so mad about this change.

While badly worded, my point was that… steamrolls happen in both modes

But I never see players of normal comp asking for a longer games.

Of course to address

When I don’t bring up a part of your argument, think of it like ahh I don’t have anything else to say on the matter other than probably fair point

Alternately I might want to look into something more, before speaking and putting my foot in my mouth

Yeah it’s not interesting discussion, but at least I’m not making disingenuous arguments

With normal comp, there’s not much to change by making the gamemode longer.
With stadium comp, there’s more time given to scale, thus giving the losing time more time to recover and come back if their build takes longer to come online.

These changes aren’t just making the gamemode steamroll-focused, they’re removing the overall viability of a large portion of the roster that takes more time to come online.

Respect for engaging with the topic in good faith though, being able to say that you may not have been correct is refreshing to see from someone through all of the “I hate stadium and this change is good because it’ll kill the gamemode” comments.

I am a HUGE fan of stadium but with season 19 I flat out have no urge to even play. The bo5 is simply too short and not fun

Usually blizzard is pretty quick at reverting bad choices (i.e., mirror picks) but I’m worried with bo5 not already being reversed that it won’t be at all and then I’ll have to find a new game to play

It’s been a day, mirror picks was also longer than that.

Honestly, might be good to wait on a balance pass for Sojourn anyway!

It’s moreso about the principle. It’s like we can’t have one season of “Competitive” Stadium without being subjected to something OW has never done before in any other mode. What’s worse is when the devs don’t even give us notice on a drastic change no one asked for. At this rate, season 20 will be best of 3 and everyone picks a new power on each death. Like what even is Comp Stadium at this point?

Oh, I don’t disagree, just it will take longer than a day to revert that’s for sure, and they’ll probably to check weekend player numbers to make sure we’re not a vocal minority.

I’ve really not liked their ideas in general since perks and Stadium launch, which were excellent. Adding more CC, increasing DPS numbers, the Hog undo button, Stadium draft even without the mirror matches prevention still sucks and now this. I’ve generally been very positive in the direction of OW2, but the direction they’ve been going recently has been pushing me away a bit.

They said they feel confident to take big swings in the new year. A few seasons ago I was excited, now I’m just worried.

Oh god I’d forgotten about that… What awful changes will they force us to deal with now :see_no_evil:

Because all their swings have been in the wrong direction. If you want to improve Stadium, improve the matchmaking, add a Top 500, give Brigitte more than ONE weapon power item… There’s so much they could do but each season they make it more restrictive, which is why alot of us stopped playing core Competitive and went to Stadium.

Anyway please sign the change dot org petition if you haven’t. 84 signatures and counting.

Well if they dont then there other games that can have the space of OW2, its not like there are not other options of entertainment available for me. Too bad really enjoyed the 7 round stadium though but not surprised they would ruin it.

Yeah, I deleted it last night. Time to find something else to have a love/hate relationship with for 9 years…

They said something different to this site but you’re probably right about that. Regardless, it doesn’t seem to me to be struggling in numbers or bleeding players.

The devs ruined Stadium, not me. But clearly they’re trying to get more people in (like me). Who hate long games. They threw everything they could behind it. To get people.

And as I mentioned previously, Stadium won’t ever work as a 1 round mode, because it’s about builds and enhancing heroes.

I don’t even care. I just want Payload race in QP mode.

I know you said your initial comment could be baseless and full of assumptions, but the part that stood out most to me is how you seem so convinced about your assumptions on who is a woman in the game and what they must prefer.

It’s odd to me because you can’t even be certain who is male or female or some other gender fluid person these days on this game. For instance, there are A LOT of gay men who play Mercy, it’s not even just women. A lot of girls even go out of their way to hide anything “feminine” about their profiles to avoid people being misogynistic to them, and I know plenty of guys who have very “girly” profiles despite being straight men. Just odd to me that you’re so certain of people’s gender on this game.

And yes I’m a girl who mostly plays competitive, can’t stand QP, and doesn’t main Mercy. We are not as rare as you think.

I don’t think that it’s struggling. But I do think that it’s losing players every season. Games in general lose players at a steady rate even if things are going well. That’s why you basically always have to bring in new players.

I’m just saying that while you can’t afford to alienate existing players, simply holding on to those players isn’t enough. But if they are also making mistakes that lose existing players then that’s a problem. And judging from the reaction to the draft and this change as well as frankly people feeling burnt out from grinding for rewards they are alienating more current players than they should be.

Then stop commenting, pal. You’re adding nothing of value.
