Request to add a *visible* line around a payload

Should be simply put already, but I think there should be a visible line around a payload (similiar to a capture point) to show exactly where you can actually escort/contest.

seriously, why does something like this not yet exist???

I can’t remember… do they show you the escort lines on defense, before the game starts? Either way it shows you where the payload is at all times if I’m not mistaken

Same reason most the abilities have no values attached to them without looking at 3rd party websites. Or that the AI training bots don’t even include all the launch day hero’s, let alone anything new. Or that the practice range is pretty awful at practicing in.

Blizzard launched OW in a pretty “early access/alpha state” and have been very lax in adding missing features. Even basic things like LFG systems, guilds etc were left out. Heck launch day OW didn’t have competitive, functioned like Limitless mode etc.

The game lacked polish, and they don’t really seem all that interested in really doing much with it. 4 years later and barely getting basic functions put in.

They do show escort lines and where it is at all times, you are right.

I think the OP is asking for the area around the Payload to be marked, where you actually have to be present in order to move/contest it, rather than the pathline the Payload follows

Honestly I wish they would raise the height over the payload and points. Sigma’s ult can literally lift players high enough off the payload to end overtime.

For me I have played long enough to generalise where the payload is looking at the bar up top.

An outline isn’t really needed cause someone needs to push the payload, you can use your friends outline as a mark on where the payload is. You also have a icon above the payload anyway. And for some, having this feature would overwhelm the visual.

i just made a simple workshop if you want to have a look at the payload size.
code is 356ZH

all its got is a sphere showing the size of payload, along with a number up in the left corner showing 1 if you are on objective, 0 if not. (match needs to be started for this to work).
to count as “on the objective” you need to be inside the sphere, and within line of sight of the payload.

Youre really asking for another nerf to Sigma’s ult? Zarya ult can keep the team away from payload, Mei ult can cc/kill everyone in a huge area, both stronger ults in general than Sigma’s. Many area denial ults will either kill or force away players.
Let Sigma at least be useful at something. Besides, you can avoid getting lifted, even if youre not one of the many heroes with escape abilities, by moving away and back onto the payload after the cast, or keeping one teammember further away when enemy has Sigma. There are many high mobility heroes. Or you can shut down Sigma before he gets to cast the lift. That’s more than can be done with many other ults.

WHY DO YOU HAVE TO GO TO THIRD PARTY WEBSITES!?

I occasionally go to the official site and all I get is, X can shoot them with the pewpews to do the hurties.

Pffft had a game yesturday where our phara was literally stood on the cars roof but the game classed it as game over.

The super lazy response I read ages ago was they don’t put any details into the hero info pages because it lets them update them easier without having to maintain a page.

Apparently a few lines of text on the Hero info page is too much for Blizzard to keep up with. Imagine how much slower balance changes would be if they had to change 11 dmg to 12 on a page!

I’ve been wanting this since I got the game.

They have thiat in paladins and its do helpful omg, im always scared to leave the top of the payload in overtime

I think it’s probably a visual clutter thing. I also don’t think games often come down to where somebody knew they could stand around a payload. It doesn’t seem needed to me.

If they were frequently making changes within the game I would get it, but…

Having said that, if I wanted to save money why do the work when you know the community will pick up that particularly slack. It’s also prob pretty good on in its accuracy cos there’ll be plenty of people who like to check numbers etc (for example McCree’s fall off isn’t actually linear unless it’s changed in the last 9 months)

Oh come on, the timers and lines of actual capture points don’t seem to have any relevancy as it is. I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen someone’s character actually cross onto the point, yet overtime still expires.

There is like a .3 second delay before registering someone on the point. I ve seen what you describe coutless times. I think a simple line or aura designating the perimeter of the payload would help greatly

Why is that a big deal? It’s an ultimate. Zarya can Grav people so they can’t touch either. Mei can ult the payload making it extremely difficult to stay on. One of the main functions of ultimates is to disrupt the enemy.
