I’m not like, game design savy but could replacing “afk” players faster work or would there be too many problems with it? Would it be too fast, not give enough time to choose, would it mess with back-fillers?
Idk how often it happens but it seems pretty common to me where a game will start and 1-2 players still haven’t picked a hero or one leaves as soon as we’re allowed out of spawn and while not game-breaking its VERY annoying.
Last match I had our 2nd support left and our tank never chose so it was just me, Sojourn and Zen for a while.
We didn’t push we sort of just stood a few meters away from the point, got killed, then our tank left and was replaced by someone else who immediatly left, rejoined and then went afk for a bit so we sort of just told the enemy team we were gonna chill.
So they got the first round uncontested and I left before the second one started so idk how that went.
But anyways, would the game be worse if they were replaced faster or no?
Folks, to avoid leavers like this repeatedly is why the penalty exists.
So people at least commit to an effort instead of “nah, i don’t feel like putting my effort cause they picked 1 character me don’t likes”
I just tell everyone to report the AFK’er for game sabotage. You’d be surprised by how quickly they start playing again, even if to only soft-throw lol.

I had a Widowmaker that made someone else throw the game and then the Widowmaker blamed our entire team after we lost even though they were playing Widowmaker on Samoa. Oh, and they sucked. It was definitely an experience and I can see why people would want to leave that freak’s game.
