Remove private profile

I guess so :joy:

Private profiles aren’t protecting much of that, stop using my profile to boost your ugly ego and go ahead and teach the other 40 million people who won’t listen to not do this either. Private profiles were the best thing added to this game, period.

Have your mom tell their mom it’s not fair when their profile is private.

Some people will find problems no matter what.
And you missed the entire point.

You seem to only read what you want to read. No point arguing

Most of those I see with public profiles are smurfs. They’re not ashamed of the account I see them on because they got their shameful play out of the way elsewhere. So they do have something to hide – they’re hiding it on another account.

How are cheaters and sold accounts proven via open profile?

Anywho, I have mine public atm because I don’t care. But sometimes I do, so it goes private. Before private profiles, I always got mercy main comments even though I’ve started juggling like 3-4 other heroes in the past year and a half.

Only so much variety you can choose from when you’re playing on a toaster for three years.

Damn Squirtle was a fun pokemon to main in smash bros thou.

Absolutely not. None of these reasons, neither alone nor all together, come even close to being a viable argument in favor of doing away with our option (I’d like to say right, but not all countries have passed appropriate laws yet, and we are a multinational community) to privacy.

The statement I made is certainly true, and I suspect most players with a private profile do not have a fragile ego or feel they are any better than anyone else

To me, a stance where one believes otherwise would seem to simply indicate a desire to attack/deride players who have simply exercised their absolute right to have a private profile

really the worst part of private profiles is it killed overbuff as a reliable source (though despite that people still try to use it as if it is…)

Priviate profiles should be, and are here to stay.

I mean I just came back here with 5+ replies so something probably did get lost in translation.

Re-reading your post I do not see what there is to argue. It sounds like you are neither agreeing or disagreeing with my statement.

It serves no purpose.

Lets say you see someone on your team playing a hero you disapprove of due to their stats. What then?

It didn’t kill Overbuff as a source. The site was checked before and after and the stats didn’t change a significant amount at all. The sample size on that site is huge.

Everytime devs have commented on something that is a matter of statistics, it’s been reflected on Overbuff.

stop looking at peoples profiles you weirdo

umm… well … if they are lvl 2500 and still stuck in bronze that’s a problem. shouldnt you have learned from your mistakes. like i dont want to be mean but if you all you do is play comp (lvl 2500) and still stuck in bronze that’s kinda disappointing. comp helps you learn from mistakes. idc abt private profiles unless its lvl 25-50. they are either a menace or complete bots.

I’m not ashamed :man_shrugging:t2: I keep it private partly cos I cbf finding the option to turn it off, but mainly cos it stops my team tilting and throwing the match if I’m playing a character that isn’t my absolute most played. In effect, I’m protecting my weak willed/stupid team mates from themselves.

That is correct. However, a lot of players disagree and will readily and openly berate people for ~whatever.

Making the profile private takes some of this away. Done. Plus it’s not like you could do anything valid with the information from looking at someone’s profile (in fact, most games do not have one like OW does in the first place!) so there’s no real loss in not having it for most players. And if someone wants to show off, they can still set it to public!

Source???

(Hint: There is none. That’s the point)
