Its Just QP players will feed and troll all game but when you decided you dont eanna try anymore they get all defensive and angry. Theyre the biggest hypocrites in the game alongside OTP’S
so…“i want to force you into staying in this stompfest, that..for the next 10 minutes, im going to have a blast treating you like a rag doll and watching you squirm as i completely decimate you every single time, but dont you quit the game, or decide to sit in spawn, cause, then im going to report you or get you a leaver penalty!”
is that about it?
I have a contrary idea:
Backfills and leaver penalties should only apply to people who are diamond and above! Here’s why: if a game is going so badly that someone leaves, then another poor unsuspecting bronze player gets sucked into that, already bad match, they are not going to be able to do a think to change the outcome, however, someone diamond or above would probably have the skills to turn the match around.
So, since many of the high level players are so adamant about leaver penalties and backfill, just let them deal with it because they have the skills to make changes in a game. That way, if you are roflstomping another team, maybe the backfill guy who comes in will give the team a chance to turn things around.
I experience stomps quite often, so I just leave those games ot soft trow if I already have 10min suspension ( pick illari/ torb and just throw turrent so that game won’t kick you for inacitivity) and from time to time see “report fanta” - I would assume after release of OW2 (when penalties became harsher) I would be already at least warned - but not a single one.
That gives me idea that indeed they don’t ban for that in QP (i play only that), in comp - probably but not my case
So just point of view from that one “thrower”, probably plastic rank lvl
I’ve been telling that for months. I’ll take backfill over some AFKer emoting in spawn just cause they don’t want a stupid penalty. Then I can still have a chance of winning.
I’ll be playing with a friend, friend gets a DC and now I have stay in the match until it ends or I get some punishment. And yeah, you better pray your internet connection doesn’t hiccup that day, cause the system don’t care, it just says you left.
Absolutely not.
I don’t know what game you were playing.
Gee, I thought this was “just QP” and “it doesn’t matter”, but now it apparently does matter like it’s comp.
Hahahahaha, good one. There’s just as many throwers as before.
Throwers could always get reported. If you weren’t reporting throwing before some stupid leaver penalty, that’s on you.
I do too and it’s rarely cause of AFKing in spawn. You do know there’s more than one way to throw, right?
Hahahahha, you’ve got some amazing jokes. You ask them to not be doing that and all they do is: “Chill, it’s QP” and keep diving a team of beams with Genji.
This isn’t what I said though. You absolutely can be banned for spouting racist things or sexist things.
What you CANNOT get banned for in QP is throwing, trolling, etc. By trolling i mean walking off cliffs killing yourself, putting Sym TPs at edges, using Life Grip to pull teammates off cliffs. Zero effect on reports ever in qp
These lines in the EULA say otherwise:
There is no exclusion for QP or any specific game modes – if you are reported and found guilty of any of the above, your account can get actioned, usually starting with minor punishments like chat ban or suspension, but eventually escalating to perma-ban for multiple incidents or if the infraction was serious enough like aim-botting or death threats.
I would paste more specific info covering the above, but apparently the forums no longer allow copy / paste, even from official Blizzard sources.
if you aren’t a lobby Shopper, leave if they throw.
we won’t remove penalties
What leavers penalties do is it shifts the behavior.
Forfeit the game by giving up
Forfeit the game by exiting the match.
You will have either or. Professional teams do the same thing. Just look at a few of the college football teams that become sour and it is quite obvious they are throwing and giving up. They may not have walked off the field. But you can tell when they have had enough with their coach and start throwing the game. And then at the end of the season. Somehow their coach mysteriously gets fired or takes a severance and resigns after a really bad season.
I can think of a couple of colleges that have this problem. ![]()
At the end of the day. it is both the company’s fault and the players fault.
Since blizzard is picking the teams. The best bet is to come up with a new system that “sifts” players into the correct matches.
OR…
the community should take the open minded approach that when you have a Competitive and NON competitive mode, to stop having the same expectations of a comp mode in an OPEN Q mode. Where its just going to be the run of the mill randos and things are NOT going to go your way. including the people you WILL play with and against may just up and leave.
Which does bring the discussion that LFGs should be brought back and some new form a social system. So those that really want those hardcore matches and dedication can meet up on a safer space than some random discord server.
I guess for me, the expectations are low. you meet up with a group of random strangers on the internet, all matched together by a system. You have FREE accounts all being blended together and you somehow expect it to know how to sift them together appropriately. Good luck.
Eitherway. the community expects too much out of Quickplay. If anything split it out again in a Q and for those that expect everyone just to be equally as dedicated, they just have to lower their expectations. Because when you do decide to play other online games out there. Leaving happens everywhere. and not just in Overwatch. Its just part of online gaming.
Connections Crash.
ISPs fail.
Bowels immediately protest from that hot wings meal you ate .
Some people have to walk away for reasons.
But eitherway. I say get over it, to the folks that want leaver penalties. You should have played comp and stayed there. Because we already had leaver penalties that were stiff and very strict. So stop spreading your poisonus mindset into the rest of the game, when it was just FINE.
( A casual everyone game, not your snobbish nobody has a place to play here expect us mentality). … gee I wonder why this game isn’t a global sensation anymore due to its now limited allowed audience. Eitherway. call me selfish folks… yeah, bs. look in a mirror.
LOL, watch out. We have the blizzard rep here saying who’s in charge.
Blizz actually has an initial amnesty period for leavers, but this goes away after 2 games in a row are left. Here are the current penalties:
2 games - 2 minute suspension
4-5 game - 10 minute suspension
6-9 games - 2 hour suspension
10+ games - 2 day suspension
This is based only on the last 20 games played, so if you can play 20 games in a row, all leaver flags go away.
In a nutshell, the more often you leave, the longer you get the boot for shorting your team’s roster. On the bright side, there is nothing stopping players from making 2 or more accounts to bypass these leaver penalties, so if you are absolutely addicted to OW2, you can just make a new account and resume game play. Just don’t do this if your connection or game stability is garbage, because you will get suspended repeatedly until the latter is resolved.
How the system should work at least. is that it resets at 6am Pacific time Each day.
There are some day where some weird stuff happens, and other days things go just fine.
With the current system, it never resets. So you could essentially have left a string of matches , and then months later it get punished for your action. Despite you forgot about it.
I’m not sure that it resets based on any clock… the FAQ I read only mentions the last 20 games played.
Except that never happens.
I’d rather eat a penalty for 2min-2hour than stay in a game like that. The penalty makes a lot of sense if you’re playing competitive, but adding it to casual was legit stupid.
I’ve seen it happen… leavers getting reported and taking a penalty hit on top of their auto-leaver penalty.
How int he world are you seeing it happen? It happens outside of the game. You also are never told which person you reported was blocked. So are you just making things up? Like I want to know where you’re seeing this so I can confirm its real.
I just run off the map over and over until it ends

Easy answer – I watched my friends /report those leavers as they announced their action. Double-whammy result. It is a reportable EULA violation.
Interesting, if the game ends in 2-3 min and we’re getting stomped, I just sit in spawn doing nothing. Guess nobody has ever reported me for it. Lol
AFK’ers usually get reported in my matches as well. The key to deliberately throwing without getting reported is to simply play like a perma-bronze player… missing shots wide, never strafing, full Leroy Jenkin’s twin brother type performance. Playing poorly is not reportable unless the player is blatantly sabotaging their team.
