Reinhardt Perks

Why am I not surprised? I have seen such Reins too, just charge in and don’t care (some don’t even seem to know you can cancel charge now). Charge is great into shatter, sleep or some other stun. On its own it okay on a short distance when enemy might have less time to react. I don’t even know if this perk counts any side-damage, like if I pass by two enemies as I got someone already, or only upon imapct.

I have to agree, Reinhardt perks are really underwhelming and practically useless or very situational. Compared to what other heroes have gotten, it’s a joke.
Not to mention that the Bash key clashes with the Look Around while holding the shield function.
It goes to show that they didn’t really test or through out a lot of these perks.

Instead of Crusader’s Resolve/Fiery Uptake, I think they could had added something that would reward good aim with Firestrike.

“Firestrike hits causes targets to take 25 burn damage over 2 seconds” or
“Firestrike hits reduce cooldown on your other abilities by 1second.”

Shield Slam is not a bad idea, but at the moment it’s so underwhelming and clunky.
It would be great if it could be used to cover more distance like Brigitte, that would help with Rein’s mobility.

Crushing Victory, just like Crusader’s Resolve is good on paper but horrible and very situational in game.
With the introduction of perks, a lot of heroes gained mobility boost or more knockback effectiveness, resulting in Reinhardt, very often, being unable to reach and damage other targets.
Due to the mobility powercreep, it’s very unlikely you will get a pin often in a match and even when you do get one, the rewarding ovehealth is not that great.
Even if it gave 100% overhealth of the damage done, it still would be bad.

They should change this to something that is actually useful.
Something similar to Mauga during Overrun has, would be great so charging a target is not a death sentence.

Simple ideas are:
“During Charge, Reinhardt gains X% (Maybe 30-50%) Damage and/or Knockback resistance”
“During Charge, Reinhardt gains X (2?) Overhealth for every meter distance covered”

Yeah, it was jarring the first time I saw it. I was like… that’s it???

Hey not to mention

The Shield bash Major Perk ruins his freelook camera

My keybinds are diffrent but as far as i know, holding shield and swing activates freelook, AND bash.

So if you need to freelook (which i do ALL THE TIME) you must waste bash and deposition yourself first. No bueno.

I agree with this, perks that change the gameplay are better. Just don’t get to excited, unless you’re playing the third or fourth round and leveled up rein in the earlier rounds. You’re not going to have it on gibraltar.

Playing sig on hollywood and then having the levitate on second is cool though. So a rein rocket jump would be the similar there.

This I would love to see!

An idea I had:

What if he had a perk where he could slam his shield in the ground and leave it there and pick it up again with an interact key? This could make for some epic shield dance plays.

i feel all of them are just right (maybe some minor tweaks here and there) but pretty much spot on

Look, perks are the boring version of stadium, the devs are very “careful” and turned something with potential fun into something controlled, with some exceptions most of the perks are “make this a little better”

I’m really hopeful for stadium, where I’ve seen them remove these gameplay chains and make the game more free and different

stadium will eventually fail, if ow2 history have something to teach us is thet everything developers do is doomed, they overhype things to fail, they will not update this mode quickly enough, only 14 characters at launch, one new character per season?

I would agree, if they didn’t have a specific new team for this mode

they “have”, but in reality they just split the team left after layoffs in two, they will fail to update stadium and the regular game, this season the balance patch, there was no balance patch at all, they only aded perks but game was untouched, they didnt announced a single new event, without stadium was really anything of content they have planed for 2025?

if df can parry now and charge punch, they could give rein the same thing for shield, mitigated dmg reduces charge cd

Let me correct myself when I said “new” the word wouldn’t be quite that, but rather “specific” for this.

So they have a specific team for this, before the layoffs.

Most of the mechanics are from PVE and they reuse them, and I believe that although there was already a team doing something related, I think that something more specific like Stadium was consolidated using the Deadlock base.

So the team behind the mechanics already existed before, it’s not part of who left (although it was probably affected) and after the release of Deadlock, more was hired to create the specific mode.

About balance, how are you going to balance if you’re implementing a new structure that affects balance? First you have to see the impact of perks, then balance. The mid-season patches will probably be bigger than usual, but it’s hard to say without knowing the data
As for events, there will be April Fools’ Day and Kpop , but in my opinion most of them were bad (they only serve to sell skins), except for the Halloween ones, and if you’re talking about collabs, I don’t think they should announce them much earlier, but based on last year, I think this year will be ok

I think you’re criticizing something in the if (for now) If, if, if… it’s hard to base myself on the if, I can say based on what they did or are doing, anything else is an assumption.

I understand that your assumptions are based on past mistakes, but that’s no guarantee that they will make the same mistakes

Stadium has potential, that’s all I’m saying, will it be a success or will it just be another forgotten arcade mode? I don’t know

Honestly I don’t think that tanks in general got very good perks. Even Orisa’s supposedly invaluable barrier one is meh because you get it too late for your team to actively build a comp around it without sacking their own perks. The forums kind of reflect this too because I don’t think I’ve seen a post or comment here yet that’s said that any tank perks need a nerf.

I think that perks in general are weaker than everyone thought that they would be, and the standout exceptions are what the community thought that the baseline would be. Things like Tracer recall restoring blinks, Sojourn getting to onetap on ult, Ashe infinitely regenerating ammo and Ana getting headshots and two nades is utterly insane. It’s even more insane to compare any of those to Lifeweaver passively healing 10 hps, Sombra getting a partial cd refund on virus, or Mauga counting as 2 characters on an objective (like that does much of anything) and getting a baby bit 20 hps on objectives.

in theory you are right, but is ow2 and their developers we are talking about, if there is a thing they have done since launch right is dissapoint and let down their playerbase, overhype things and relase them on a bad an incomplete state and they will fail to update it and keep it interesting, pve, hero mastery, now stadium

 i have heard this a lot of times before, when they canceled pve they claimed now they finally know what to do
