Refusing to switch is throwing

I get told to switch when playing QP on a hero I don’t have much time on, how the heck am I going to git gud on X hero if I don’t practice?

I mean that is the main difference between QP and comp. Comp is where you go to try hard and give it your all trying to get that win. QP is a much more laid back environment where people play for fun and try to play what they want. Sure there might be some people giving it their all in QP, but that is better suited towards comp where (hopefully) everyone is as well and trying to win.

This is why I cant take the forums seriously. Lack of knowledge on the actual game, but think they’re always right when it comes to balance. Please learn your facts. Just today I had a Mercy main with 60+ hours on her, say that Rez is on a 20 sec cooldown.

These forums are really…smart.

Feeling entitled to dictate arbitrary metas is throwing. Regardless of what MoNeYINPHX says.

Quick Play mentality transpires to Comp. Sure some players may try hard to win, but in the end if it’s not working then quick play mentality kicks especially if some chooses a one trick hero. No one tries in comp as players claims they do. You’re either good or spoon fed waiting to be carried.

The problem is, it is automatically assumed that you are “hard countered” and “don’t contribute” the moment you chose to play a Hero that isn’t OWL approved. Stats and the actual game does not matter. It’s just a pathetic excuse for guys like you to rant at some scapegoat.

Who determines exactly which person has to switch? It certainly isn’t the person screaming at his teammates that gets to decide.

And in low ranks it basicly does not matter if the enemy has your counter …. half the people have no idea how this game works. They just read somewhere Monkey counters Genji and than they just die over and over again jumping into the enemy Team.

Are you serious right now?

Winston vs Genji
Junkrat vs Bastion
Pharah vs Bastion
Reaper vs Winston

And more.

Unless you’re a Master playing in Gold, yes, yes, there are. Some being even defined by simple hero mechanics.

Nah m8 I remember back when people thought Hanzo was a troll pick and told me to switch and 10 seconds later I save the game

Cold hard fact : 95% of people here who defend the “right” to play what they want instead of proper counterpicking are silver/gold.

It’s ok, but one thing’s sure, if you wanna climb higher, you must prioritize counterpicking (among other things). With that in mind, it’s just a matter of choice.

I was listening to what you were saying until you brought up torb. Clearly this is just another attack against off-meta one tricks.

I pretty much one tricked Symmetra, just because I did the best as her out of everyone. I love her on attack because I have found ways to become stronger and work around my weaknesses.

I have a 68% win rate on Symmetra. If I lock her in it is because I know out of everyone I have the best chance of winning the game as her. (JK that’s torb at 72%) most times I am playing attack symmetra I have gold elims and damage as well as constant ult uptime. Yet I get asked to switch if we are not stomping. And if I try to defend myself or point out that I am currently out top dps, I stand the risk of being reported.

Some times it is not the one trick.

Active throwing is a problem. Teleporters off cliffs or back into spawn are horrible and should be reported. Not switching a hero is not throwing.

Also consider what happened if a one trick did switch. Do you think them playing a character they have no time on will allow them to contribute more to their team than playing the character that have played out of their niche so much they can play against their counters.

If you are scared of Winston you are a bad sym. You think dive being meta screwed with my win percentage? Winston was in every game and I crushed him.

We are the Symmetras born from dive. The fire burns within us.

Have you played silver and gold lately? The outcome of 70-80% of all matches are totally random …. you can go in with the most ridiculous bull**** comps and win as long people know what hey are doing. I won a game earlyer on Blizzard World with attack Torb, Doom, me on Sombra and a Lucio solo healing and 2 off tanks. The enemy had a standart comp with Moira, Ana, Rein, Junk and so on … can’t remember all.

No it’s playing the hero you’re best at.

So who needs to switch? Which “bad” should it be and is it the fault of the blamed party?

Yesterday in a Rialto Comp Map. Wife and I were Junkrat and Moira. Another person was Rein. Rest were D.Va, 76, Pharah.

Things start going poorly. The Rein calls out for someone to please help Heal. They end up yelling at my wife for not switching and sticking as Junk Rat. But looking at Stats, Wife was Gold Elim, Gold Obj Elims, Gold Damage, Silver Objective time. Constantly saved me from death so I could keep healing, interrupted the Reaper Ult before it could kill Rein, etc.

Meanwhile the D.Va was never with us and kept whining I wouldn’t run off solo away from the party to heal her. And the 76 was pointlessly trying to get kills by himself instead of helping push the payload.

End of the map 3 players insisted it was the Junkrat’s fault. So was she throwing for not switching? According to your first post, yes?

You are right. Dash cooldown is longer than leap, thus making it even harder for Genji to get away from Winston if he don’t bait the jump first.

My point still stands.

That’s why not a single one trick player is in the top 500.

Genji can poke Winston from distance. If Winston leap at him, he dash away and keep poking.

Bastion can move out of the way of his grenades. Junkrat have to peek to find Bastion new position.

Bastion and Pharah is a matter of positioning. If Bastion is in a good position, Pharah can’t fire at him without being in melt range.

Reaper is designed to melt tanks, but while it is a sure thing in a duel, all tanks are designed to be played with a team. But even then, a good jump or Primal Rage can throw him off a cliff. So, it’s not an impossibility depending on the map.

Genji dashes away, Winston follows. Doesn’t do enough damage up close and deflect is useless. Hard countered.

By the time he switches positions, he’s dead. He too slow and is a very big target. Hard countered.

Pharah has the strongest advantage because Bastion is most useful when in his immobile state. Hard countered.

Reaper can catch up to Winston after he leaps away. Massive target goes down because spread is all of the player model of Winston. His damage can’t help him, and his bubble is useless when Reaper is in his face. Hard countered.

Hard counters exist, just like soft counters.

Blizzard might run/own the game, but the game is nothing without players and if the players aren’t happy Blizzard is in trouble. Blizzard can say whatever they want but if the majority of players don’t agree and continue to act in a certain way Blizzard is screwed, they can’t just ignore what the majority is doing, it doesn’t work and will only lead to failure. This is why Blizzard is trying to fix this issue in ways that do not compromise their politically correct posture on these kind of matters by for example, reworking certain heroes, introducing others, etc, etc. It is a smart move in general but i wonder if it will indeed fix these issues as things like one tricking is dislike because of it being fundamentally anti competitive.

I like this, however this particular case is not something that cannot be fixed. People have a right to voice their opinions and it can actually have an effect, i still remember when i was called all sort of things for “raising my voice” against Tracer/Blizzard, but then a lot of people supported that, and it actually made a difference, im sure of it, now here we are, Tracer has been nerfed, a counter has been introduced and things are much better. The case in question is not too different, and it is part of why the competitive experience continues to be mediocre at best and is not healthy for the longevity of the game, something needs to be done as soon as possible and Blizzard knows it, it’s just that they are really slow on actually doing something unfortunately.
