Good idea, however I would format it differently.
It could be an explosive shell tucked under his regular use.
The ammo cost should definitely be higher than a regular primary fire.
I was thinking that the shell would shoot out a set distance and either explode at max range or first contact with something, doing splash damage in an area (like soldiers helix).
