Reaper needs to be faster

I don’t know why they thought it would be a good idea for a short ranged hero to have the slowest form of mobility in the game, but it needs to change. I don’t care if he gets a larger spread or has more damage nerfs as compensation nerfs, he needs to change.

Here’s how the plan goes every time you play Reaper:

  • Step 1: Look for target
  • Step 2, Choice A: Teleport in somewhere close, but not too close that they can hear/see you.
  • Step 2, Choice B: Walk all the way around and then crouch walk at half speed when closing in on target.
  • Step 3: Get noticed before you’re in range, pray to god you don’t die before you’re close enough, and secure the kill in two shots or less (otherwise, you die).
  • Step 4: Wraith form at a whopping speed of 2 miles per hour.

With that said, Reaper’s whole plan of action takes way longer than any other flanker in the game and is way more likely to fail than them as well. It’s all because of 3 key factors.

  • His Teleport deploys way too slow (which prevents him from surprise diving anyone on his own)
  • His Wraith form travels way too slow (which is bad, even if used as a disengage)
  • He’s extraordinarily short ranged and has inconsistent damage (unlike a melee character who is also short ranged, but has a lot more leeway in terms of aiming and consistently puts out the same amount of damage)

There needs to be some burst of speed in his kit like a dash, so that he can have some way to survive while not in range. Something akin to a Genji Swift Strike/Reaper Wraith hybrid where he briefly dashes forward as intangible smoke, but without the damage of swift strike. It should also have a relatively short cooldown or a way to reset the cooldown via skill check.

As he is now, Reaper is unplayable without someone to hold his hand. Everything out-ranges you, closing the gap is near impossible, and there is nothing you can do since your cooldowns take a decade to come off cooldown.

If they refuse to make any changes to his mobility, at the very least change Wraith form into a berserker style ability where instead of being immortal, you instead get 90% damage reduction for a brief period of time with a slight damage buff. At least he’ll be somewhat like what he’s portrayed as in the cinematics/lore.

I don’t think a tank buster with strong damage up close needs much of anything to his base movement speed, or wraith speed. I agree he’s in a weak spot, but he doesn’t need movement speed increases.

If anything, he needs a faster ult so he’s not just instantly getting cc’d out of it.

Reaper hasn’t been a tank buster since the season 9 patch and the armor patch. You cannot tank bust when 75% of your damage is mitigated any time you engage them.

Hanzo and Widow are better tank busters.

You’re acting like there aren’t meat tanks. Reaper only needs an ult buff.

I agree. They should tighten his spread and make his teleport animation faster.

He is no tank buster anymore, just make him a flanker.

Why do people always want their hero to be easier for them, and more annoying for everyone else? He’s fine atm outside of his ult.

Ok. Reduce his HP then.

Considering he’s in a pretty good spot, no changes can happen without a tradeoff.

Because he sucks atm.

He’s not really my hero, i just played him enough to know there is no point in playing him really. His identity was taken away.

So was Mei’s, Hanzo for a bit, and a few others. Might wanna either get over it, or stop playing. I chose the latter.

Go play Classic. Reaper is a proper tank buster even with all the CC.

I’d rather not play a nonsense mode that is nothing but Doomfist in every game. Yeah… Screw that.

Ok thats irrelevant.

Reaper in Classic is a proper threat and actually counters Doom well.

Fortunately op agrees. Definitely would need to shuffle a couple things around.

Reaper likely doesn’t have to go to 250 if he was made a bit faster, maybe 275. A bit of a brawly dive hybrid hero similar to hazard; not as fast as proper dive heroes but with more mobility than typical brawl heroes.

Id basically always rather play venture than reaper which is kinda sad

I never felt he was any sort of actual threat to begin with. I play Hanzo in DPS and end him before he can even try anything.

But I know he’s also in a fairly okay spot, and needs a buff to his ult speed, about it.

We’re specifically talking about tank busting here friend. Hanzo is a difficult target for Reaper just like McCree.

OW2 took away his niche just like they did with many heroes.

And screaming into the void about it does what sadly?

Are you intentionally just trying to derail this conversation with every comment? We’re discussing reaper here and how hes weak.

Not everyone disagreeing with you is trying to derail the conversation. Don’t be one of those forum users.

Reaper is currently in a fine spot, he doesn’t need movement speed increases. All he needs is a faster ult so he can be back to his ORIGINAL ttk with it.

Go take a hike dude, you’re freaking weird.

Way to actually derail the thread, with insults and no real points being made.

You accused me of derailing, then instantly derailed it. You’re a sad hypocrite.

Just gonna mute you, you’re not worth my brain cells or time.
