That’s more than fine. I don’t mind if you did play Reaper. You should play Reaper if he is your main. I actually prefer it. Everyone has a favorite hero and they should enjoy playing whoever they want. That’s what makes the game so great. There are people for all of the heroes. It gives so much diversity to the game. Then, when you consider that everyone has there own personal play style. Those two together make every match so unique.
Balance is important too and most people seem to agree that Reaper has been outperforming all of the other dps. He might not be as strong with the shield nerfs since long range heroes can start to come back into the game. He might not though because he still is very strong and where GOATS started a trend of brawl comps, he could still be a top pick if that trend continues. I don’t think he needs a severe nerf. Just a small tweak or two. I would like to think that he would still be in a healthy place. If not, he could get buffed in a different way to help him out.
Please keep playing Reaper though. You have no reason not to and nobody should try to force you away from him. You are one of the people that give Reaper his special place in the game. All heroes should have that.
Also, I think it’s important to acknowledge how much skill Reaper takes to play. It’s really not that much. Every hero requires different amounts of skill. Reaper is arguably one of the easier ones. You are right though, Reaper is a hero that requires a lot of good positioning, target prioritization, etc. Just game sense in general.
I think he can be a hero that takes a lot of skill and I think he used to be. The reason why I think Reaper takes so little skill is just because of the way the game is currently being played. First, the game shifted to a play style that favored Reaper as opposed to against him which it used to be. Then, he was buffed a point where he is expected to be able to be played against the sustain of triple tank - triple support comps. It’s impossible to build a team like that after role lock. He was never readjusted for the change though.
I suppose that it’s possible that everyone could be overestimating Reaper and he is balanced. If so, then I am sorry. I just don’t think he is though. If he was made a little less consistent, I think that he could be a hero that takes a lot of skill. Maybe not along the lines as a hero like Widow. He would take skill in his own right. It’d be just like you are trying to argue. I’d hope that it would be along the lines of Brigitte. A hero that heavily rewards the player for good decision making.
I hope you understand where I’m coming. I respect that you care about Reaper and you want him to stay strong. This is personally just what I think the game needs. Not just for Reaper. A lot of heroes. I think we are heading in the right direction with how the game has been changing.
You are cherry picking the best possible scenario. I don’t care how good you are, you are not going to land 140 body shots or 280 headshots with ever shot. Dude being a masters player who plays reaper a fair amount of time I can’t remember the last time I one shot a 200 hp hero by landing every single pellet into their head. This is literally forum reaper, and over exaggerating their capabilities. For Reaper to do that kind of damage he has to be directly on top of you and land every single pellet of his ginormous spread into your head, and honestly if you let him sneak up or get that close to you in the first place you deserve to die to him.
Indeed. People have forgotten that the “all or nothing” crit bug was fixed. It used to be that if you critted, ALL of your pellets were crits, now it’s just the ones that are actually in the crit-box. That was a huge nerf to his kill potential with his insane spread.
He expresses skill through game sense and positioning, and some aim. Believe it or not, aiming up close is not with out some skill effort as targets move at the fastest rate and often move out of sight. That being said, I think the idea of a tank-buster is just a bad one in general - despite my icon and enjoyment of the character. I mean, Reaper players could play Moira if you wanted to really start slumming…
This is for those who say “don’t get close to reaper” you know that you have to defend the objective in this game right? That’s how you win. And that’s always close quarter combat. So you have to get close as a TANK. I am truely sorry but I can’t see your logic. As far as I can tell you tell me not to play the objective… Is that what you do? If so you probably are my teammates who never comes to defend the objective, ever.
The only nerf Reaper needs is lifesteal. and possible making his spread a little wider. Other than that, he is balanced. Two shotting everybody shouldn’t be the tank buster job, two shotting a tank should be. But I could live with just the lifesteal being lower, by maybe 10 percent. The spread I could live with… but it shouldn’t take me 4 dinks to the head to kill him as a support… because I got him to one then he lifestealed back to full.
Makes him viable. Better than x0.5. He was near unkillable then.
He’s literally a TANK BUSTER. What do you expect? Get your healers to help.
Incorrect.
Request help. Reaper has counters. Not to mention Zarya has the advantage against him.
Reaper sucks, you’re complaining for no reason, and yes, I play a lot of tank. Hog to be in fact and I crush a lot of Reapers. Who are you playing? Winston?
