If you read my previous posts, you would see I listed positives.

Thing is, I’m not sure if you actually hate Hammond because you seem so desperate to hate him. It’s like you’re saying “Well, people hate him, why don’t I?”

I’m sorry, but for me being so ignorant, you seem to be ignorant as hell. You claim all the other new heroes have cliff-hangers, but why can’t Hammond have a fancy cliff-hanger? How come his lore is suddenly completed?

You seem to deny every positive thing I listed then. So, I’ll repeat them again, I suppose, plus some new ones…

  • He’s a hamster that was made smart by the Horizon Lunar Colony, so that could open a whole new realm for heroes that could actually be good, plus theories and speculation.
  • He’s cute, I guess. Not really for me, but to others, I guess again.
  • Hammond, despite the point being done to death, is actually fun. Name a hero you personally find fun, as I came back to Overwatch from a long break, had not played Moira and Brigitte, and already find them boring.
  • He managed to make a mech out of an ESCAPE POD. Compare that to D.va, who is magically able to get a mech for no reason.
  • He’s another animal hero. I mean, we already have a few omnic heroes. What’s stopping another animal hero? I get that sounds dumb, but still. It’s positive to me.

Also, consider personality. It’s a thing that makes characters possibly interesting. He could be brave and cocky. Why should a hamster just be limited to an ‘absolute wimp’ personality? Or he’s Satan, I don’t know.

I’m sorry, but you’re being hypocritical as hell.

Maybe get out of your little bubble (winston joke) and accept it’s not all about you, and maybe understand how I and the people who like Hammond AREN’T the big baddies here. Nobody really is, but still.

Look buddy. I’ve been at this all night man. I’ve changed a couple of minds made many people walk off angry and such with simple. I’m gonna keep it short for you list of the negatives and you do ehat yiu will with it.

Apes win here.
There’s a documentary titled “The rise of the planet of the apes” that shows a good example of huma fasination with ape kind.

For one thing here its a fantasy game. Not a Loony Tunes show.

Realism isn’t a factor once a good creative character is formed through plausible means. Then the unexplained power or weaponry is used as a tool to enhance their journey. We have to be able to bond wirh the character in mind. Whether they are in a book, a show, a comic, or a video game. It adds to immersion and the experience of things.

We need to be able to watch them frow on their journey to witness their struggles and be there to cheer them on during their conflicts. And finally the ending when they reach their goals.

Hammond has none of these traits and furthermore has holes alone his story.

He’s too big for his size. Is or should be unable to use tools like a human. Unless you eanna tell me he can pivot, twist, turn, grip, and hold these heavy tools. Let alone operate a blowtorch for precision engineering.

We kill rats in droves and murder them with simple contraptions such as a mousetrap and bait.

Meanwhile Apes. Are seen as an every learning surlrising species who do use tools and display expression. Apes are the closest to our genetic make-up thusly it makes it easier to build, repair, and manage these strands of DNA for any complications.

So Hammond’s origin makes no sense as they would complicate the strand and that there is no genetic base for scientist to go by. Meaning the enhancement for a rodent even as smart as a rat would be completely limited to that of a dog. Nothing more.

Bt alowing this you are allowing low effort minimal standards to be the norm. You invite Pikachu into this game literally. You are asking for the shredding or lore anf low quality characters that we cannot relate with.

Thus lowering the expeirence that is Overwatch.

By the way you missed one good point and thats the addition of a new tank.

Yeah, we’ve probably been at this for too long, but come on, that didn’t even support your argument. You literally just said “hey apes are better than rodents” in that post. Nothing towards the topic we were both whining about.

Eh, I should probably stop. Hopefully I don’t get banned for extended toxicity, aaaagh.

EDIT: Actually, for the end, Overwatch can literally be explained with “Science.” We’ve played by this rule for two YEARS (probably) but now there’s a smart hamster, people go “uh no by science this isn’t possible.”

A: Overwatch is seemingly set in the future. Science most likely would have advanced by that time, allowing Hammond to have the same, or a similar strand of INTELLIGENCE as Winston.

B:

…I don’t think we can relate to Winston. A super-intelligent scientist who has a crippling addiction to peanut butter. Yeah, we are most likely descendants of apes in evolution, but personality wise? No. Really, the only thing most people can relate to him for is seemingly doing nothing. I get the game hasn’t shown us much of Winston’s work, but still.

However, if we were little kids, we probably WOULD relate to Hammond, due to that one thing that you never shut up about. (Sorry for toxicity.)

Adventure.

Probably every kid had/has at some point wanted or thought about adventure, before they matured and realized that’s stupid.

And why do you assume that we’ve let low effort characters be the norm now that Hammond was out? Personally, that probably happened at Doomfist/Orisa’s release, not just now.

Orisa is a robot that literally is a OR-15 but it has some limited, tiny amount of imagination.

Doomfist is just fighting game references.

Just because they did something different from the boring norm of heroes BEFORE Hammond doesn’t mean we should hate it. All the new heroes past Orisa actually sort of feel kind of soulless now unintentionally. As much as they go on about science and being people’s shields, they’re boring as hell.

Look, sorry for being massively toxic now, but come on. I’m just upset because of - in my opinion - you being persistent with your flawed arguments. (again, my opinion.)

I wouldn’t be so sure about that … Ironically Sombra is incredibly strong against Hammond. Other Heroes that seem to fare rather well are Junkrat, McCree, Mei, Reaper … I mean it’s not like there’s lack of counterplay.

I might hate the next thing that comes out and you may love it but thats the things about conversations and communities. Everyone gets their own opinions and ideas.

Whatever I did to you I’m sorry. But wow…did you blow up about a forum that has been several days old.

They could better no doubt about that we deserve better to but it is a really fun game though. Its just too many little things ruin it for many.

I agree. It breaks my heart that we ask for all this and we blow up the forums when we get them. We asked for sombra changes and got them. Not the ones we asked for, but we got something. I feel like I have to enter the forums with a gas mask…

I think forums in general are a gathering place for people with something to complain about. People who don’t have an issue don’t bother to check in and say things are going good.
