Ranked placement not fixed- why not offer a reset?

TLDR:
Title is pretty self explanatory.
I’m hard stuck in bronze, the patch didn’t help despite winning most games with average 10k heals or damage in different roles and heroes. As an ex gold/plat this is really frustrating being with teams that just “don’t get it” for lack of a better term.

Solution: let us chose to reset our rank and place again seeing as it’s supposedly been fixed.

Long version/ rant sorry:

I’m really happy for those that were able to progress out quickly after they patched the issue with people being hard stuck in bronze, unfortunately for me and like many others, my 7 games out of placement were with people that are either new (and should be in quick play), solo heroes that didn’t play the objective/ their role properly or players like me that ranked high gold/ plat and higher in OW1 for all roles (except for these 7 games post placement they were on the other team).

The state of bronze and silver lobbies is absolutely frustrating and after reading other posts I have been focusing on myself and not worrying about my teams just running in one after another or pushing a spawn with no one on the payload.

I try communicating, heck even begging people just to wait 10 seconds to group up.

This is a fantastic game when people work together, I don’t even mind losing to a good team if our team plays well and down to the wire as well.

So please, my only solution or thought that I’d fair is to allow us to reset our season rank and do placement again, seeing as it’s apparently been fixed.

But I have won 7/9 games as dps and heals with 10k damage average and same for heals- often nearing both with some heros, but I kid you not I ranked DOWN.

I don’t want to even play anymore, but I keep coming back in hopes that I’ll magically rank straight to high silver or gold and be able to actually get better, it really can be a fun game when we work together.

It’s such a broken record at this point. So many different people with the same story over and over again.

But it’s totally just us being bad. /s

Honestly, they have to be doing it on purpose at this point. I don’t think they want to fix it.

The question is why are they doing it, and the best I’ve seen so far is it’s to keep queue times down. So again, they have no reason to fix it as long as they’re attracting the whales.

This and some other threads make me wonder that it seems like new players are ranking higher than you would expect, specifically higher than veteran players who have previously ranked higher. Maybe this is part of the fixing because they’re probably more likely to spend than veteran players?

Same story
8 games: 7 wins, 1 defeat
Bronze 5 → Bronze 5
Really?

so you want everyone else get to bronze so it’s even harder to get out?

You could be at the old 800 or so SR, which would mean bronze 5 to bronze 5 technically able to happen after three different sets of 7 wins.

So if someone were to somehow start at 0 SR it would take 11 sets of 7 wins (assume very good W/L ratio) to get to the old SR of 1100 which would then be Bronze 4.

Blizzard, just give us back our money and close game.

Blizzard is not very transparent about the system behind. It would make sense this way:

Bronze 5 - below 100 SR
Bronze 4 - 200 SR
Bronze 3 - 300 SR
Bronze 2 - 400 SR
Bronze 1 - 500 SR

But as someone points out: In the old system Bronze was 0-1500 SR and at 1500 SR you were Silver. So basically Bronze 5 to Bronze 1 takes longer.

I don’t know if this is confirmed though.

Are you playing support?? My tank friend has had no problem but as a support ive place bronze five and been stuck there whilst leading on heals and damage for healers most games. I wonder if its a glitch to do with not measuring support skill properly because they said i think it would be less on win loss. Mayber it doesnt measure healing well? Idk

Their official blog post about comp changes explained that each tier is about 100SR, so the bigger Bronze 5 thing is most likely just a widespread myth.

Ah I see, thanks for clarifying. So what really changed is that someone who was 1000 SR is silver now instead of bronze.

Well, with the absolute state of current rankings even GMs are Silver.

Really? I watch a bunch of GM’s on twitch, none of them are at least.

It may have been true that some diamonds and masters placed silver very early on but by now most of them are back to their normal ranks my account placed around silver 2 and I’ve been playing all 3 roles with results of plat 3 tank plat 4 dips and plat 2 support as of right this moment. Still on an upward overall trend. I’ve only really had very minor setbacks with mostly no pushback. Think i’ve only ever experienced demotion twice along my climb and currently at season highs across each role.

I’m only going off of what people have been saying about their rankings on forums. I’m also steadily climbing, but the overall skill disparity in one match is still sometimes absolutely unbelievable.

I was playing ranked support just after OW2 rankeds starts. It was fine. Now, i am playing tank and i am in a low tier hell playing with people who did not play too much before. I do not understand why newbies can play with older players, coz it affect gameplay and win/lose ratio and ranks. It is frustrating.

Nope. Sorry. It always amuses me when people like this say this. Even when Blizzard admitted placements were broken before they did people like this were replying the same way when we all called it out. And yep. Blizzard admitted it.

So no. It isn’t us being bad. That is awesome you are at the rank you feel but plenty of us who have vocalized we are not. So please, don’t speak on what others experience since you are not there watching every match of theirs.

From the reddit AMA on June 22nd:

Answer from blizz_smercer:
The conversion of Skill Rating (SR) to the 5 new sub-tiers within the current Skill Tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster) is straightforward. Each Skill Tier was previously 500 SR, and each of the new 5 sub-tiers correspond to what was 100 SR. So, if you were previously between 2000-2099 SR, you would be considered a Gold 5 player in the new system. If you achieved the Master tier with 3733 SR, you’d now be a Master 3 player.
Yeah, Bronze 5 is 1-1099.

Thanks again. Is there still a bug going on not ranking up from Bronze 5?

Blog post on 10/13/22

Our team would like to apologize for ranking many players too low during the first week of Overwatch 2. We discovered a bug that was impacting player skill ratings, which is what contributed to many players being placed in Bronze 5 when they should have been placed higher. Our most recent patch included a fix that will help you get back to your true rank quickly, and that will be reflected the next time you receive a competitive ranking update. You will receive a boost as you continue playing to help you get up to the correct ranks. Players who haven’t yet placed in competitive won’t experience this issue after the fix goes live.

Devs are extremely useless and lazy and only care for your wallet at the moment… Sorry! jUsT sToP pLaYiNg rIgHt nOw tHoUgH!!
