People will get to their true rank faster with less disruption without a rank reset. Just play the game. A wholesale rank reset would mess up matches for everyone for months. The majority of people are exactly where they belong or at least a lot closer to where they would be with a rank reset.
Forever stuck in plat tank/support and gold DPS unless I want to grind comp⌠which I always say I do, until I donât. Perfectly content still playing 15-30 matches a season and mostly sticking to QP.
The problem with a rank reset that people keep glossing over is that it doesnât impact everyone at every tier the same. Higher ranks will shoot up rather quickly and almost instantly be isolated from any impact of a reset.
A 3.3k player is already at top 5%-6% of the player base. So as soon as they are back to mid 3k they donât notice the reset anymore. Only getting the very few that are the top 4%+ drifting past their games on a rank up every now and then. Thatâs it.
Your 50% of the player base that is Gold to Plat, where all placements start? They will get the ENTIRE player base of this game funneled past their comps games and it will go on for 6+ months. Every single bronze or silver player, every single 4.6+ player. Every single 100% new player testing out comp. All of them start out around gold/plat.
That is just brutal for the true gold and plat players.

There isnât much to say to this other than youâre wrong. Mechanics and gamesense ensures that high ranked players will continue stomping. Which is exactly what happened in the beta.
Or. And hear me out. Lets not turn every single high ranked player into smurfs for the first 2 weeks of the OW2 launch and destroy any chance of returning players having a good first impression. Everyone will end up pretty much where they started anyway. Those insisting that theyâll magically jump 2k sr or others will drop 2k sr are deluding themselves. Itâs just a massive cope.
But somebody will need to boost play with Focus.

They arenât smurfs. Itâs a new game. Comp plays completely differently. These people arent the same ranks before because those ranks are for the old gamerule

Which is why when Blizz emailed stats at the end of the beta basically every high ranked player had top stats. Or why they ran around murdering everything in the beta.
The game really isnât that different. Masters arenât going to become plats overnight. Stop kidding yourself.
This is the real reason for no reset. Most players deal with chaos every time they play, but the highest ranks have much more consistent and even matches. Canât disturb those playersâ enjoyment now can we?
With OW2 going F2P, people can forcefully reset their ranks just by making a new account so there is absolutely NO REASON to not do an mmr reset especially now that Blizz canât get money of off people having to buy another account.
Competitive format has changed, new maps, new heroes, new hero reworks, new modes.
Itâs going to be a mess in the first week/month of competitive in OW2 regardless.

Youâd literally get stomped by masters and gm players for ages whilst complaining.
All an mmr reset would do is create problems, majority of you already complain about smurfing, this would be like that but 10x worse. The team imbalance would be crazy and all the higher ranks would stomp through games.
Only people who think the mmr âholds them backâ want an sr reset, youâre where you belong.

He was a masters tank/support. If you think you can compare tank with dps for example youâre just wrong. Most of the tanks barely require aim, whereas the same is very much not true for dps. You can have extremely good game sense and just not be as good with pure aim lol. It happens.

Itâs been almost a decade of post-launch chaos for many of us, lol. The producers do not care as much for the lower ranks. Which is fine, but why pretend that a rank reset would affect anyone negatively except for the very top, who then would have to deal with scrubs in some of their matches for whole weeks.
The fact that they are not resetting rank proves that Overwatch 2 is not actually Overwatch 2 just a way for them to make more money from Overwatch 1.
Why should we have to play with bad teammates and boost you guys or suffer a loss because our teammates are gold? This logic is so bad my guy.
You want the mmr reset because you think you donât belong in your rank and that the mmr is âholding you backââŚ

Players cry constantly about smurfs already. You arenât understanding just how many smurfs would be forcibly created by doing this and theyâd all be playing at the same time. Plus their alts.
But sure. Go for it. Reset sr. All it would do is give high ranked players a laugh for a week or 2 and make everyone else cry.

Presumptuous and wrong. I donât care if they reset the ranks because it would make almost no difference to the quality of my matches. I just like to point out bias when I see it.
Iâve climbed to masters and gm on 3 accounts (all accounts I own) yes it wouldnât be a problem for me. Iâd hard stomp my way back up. Youâd all complain and Iâd redirect you back to this thread.
It wonât be a problem for high ranks. Itâd be a problem for every other player on the ladder.
Like I said. Reset sr. It wonât be high ranks crying.
