Random connection lost to the game server after seeing red icon on the left of my screen

Dear OW developers and co-players,

lately I have been expierencing some issues. For some time now I have been getting kicked from the game servers and being send back to the login menu. It logs in after a few seconds, but the game still thinks that I left and will reward me with a loss. This is very frustrating, because I have dropped a lot of SR because of it. Every time it happens it first shows a red icon on the left of my screen with a danger icon. after a few seconds I get kicked. The first reaction will probable be that I have bad Wi-Fi. That is not the case. I am completely lost and hope that some of you might be able to help me get around this problem.

Howdy Mijrano,

If you are on a wireless connection then it is best to test the connection while
wired to the router via Ethernet. If you are still disconnecting, we should run a MTR test to gather more details:

  1. Download WinMTR
  2. Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
  3. Open the WinMTR folder and select the 64 bit version.
  4. Run the WinMTR.exe as Admin
  5. Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph, or go to Video > Options > Display Network Performance Graph if you are on any platform including Console. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to.
    Network Graph
Note: You will want to leave the colon and last 5 digits at the end off and only use the first four set of digits (for example, 24.105.13.114 in the screenshot without the :26535).
  6. Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
  7. Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
  8. Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between: ~~~~ Paste WinMTR Test Results Here ~~~~

I’m having the same issue, I was just kicked from a comp game where I would’ve hit diamond. The issue rarely happens so I’d be lucky to even make this work. I’ve been trying for the past twenty minutes and it hasn’t randomly kicked me yet.

Same here. I’ve been kicked out so many times and I’ve just gotten season banned because of it and I can’t get anyone’s help from the support team to unban me. Its so frustrating. They believe that its on our end but I haven’t been getting kicked out of any other game or my internet. Very poor system for not being able to be unbanned for something thats not your fault. Im not waiting nearly two months to be able to play comp again because of something thats their fault.

SAME here, happened 2 times in 2 days!!! it will not let me in until I restart the computer. My PC was wirely connected. very annoying!!

I am having the same issue, my account will not connect after a 250 ping game. Can log into another account on the same pc no issue, no lag.

Ikr, I have like 2000hrs on the game and I never leave mid game lol And now it’s threatening to ban me for their garbage patch. When you see a player with good track record (since release of the game) and all of a sudden leaves mid game 5x in a row after a new patch, it’s clearly the patch and not the player. The worst part is that it connects you back in after like 10 seconds on the login screen. I have 300mbps all to myself and I’m on ethernet…I couldn’t complete a single game without d/cing. Look at this shet: https://i.imgur.com/PMxlI5y.jpg

It’s queuing me while I’m “disconnected”.

I’m Getting the same thing after the patch. I’ll be able to stay for a full match but then afterwards the menus don’t load correctly and if I can load a second match I’ll get disconnected.

Hey there,

Thanks for providing the winMTR results. These do help us greatly in identifying problems!

In this case, it looks like there may be some network stability happening right out of the gate! If this is a wireless connection please be sure to test wired to see if that resolves the issue. Similarly, unplugging the network devices for 15 minutes should help clear them out for a fresh boot.

If the problem persists while on a hardwired connection after a network power cycle, please reply with an updated winMTR so we can help verify if the behavior has changed.

Cheers!
