That’s the thing. Rest of the team is not dead. Also no they walk away fine unless you are using burst. I even saw a clip of rein getting naded + double fanned and just still managed to kill the cass. It’s in this topic if you wanna look at it. Not that i think nade + double fan combo is balanced but yeah.

Burst will pretty much always be better than sustain, and that isn’t something that’s tuned in the tank; it’s tuned in the healers. Burst > sustain is just a general phenomenon though. That said, it’s not like sustained heroes are bad or unplayable even if they’re not meta.

Well like i said before burst will stay burst. Sustained heroes aren’t unplayable yes but all you do is basically shoot and farm damage that’s all.

Personal experience : Playing it and seeing it on the enemy team. I didn’t really saw a soldier doing that much work over someone like a cass etc. while someone picking ashe and sitting at high ground on the NY map made us lose the game.

Note that i was trying to counter the tank (WB i think?) as bastion in this position so my teammates not diving her was the problem. But you get the idea.

Tanks can die. If they walk away, it’s because they outplayed you or got healed. If the rest of their team is dead, it’s pretty much moot

Well yeah they do get healed pretty much and already said about rest of the team stuff above.

But again, what is your non-cc solution that still allows them to take threat? Specifically

I know this isn’t a direct answer but they’ll still make space etc. with one of these changes applied.

• Making their health somewhere inbetween open queue and what we have currently. I’ve noticed that tanks are pretty fun both ways on that mode. Especially d.va , rein and winston.

• Reducing their sustain, armor etc.

• Giving them different playstyles like in paladins. Some can be specialized on contesting objs while having low damage and some can do damage while being a tad bit careful of their positioning.

What we have right now is a shell of what’s left from OW1. Devs themselves said they aim to make tanks both off and a main tank. Even the raid boss term comes from a devs mouth. I believe it was when they first revealed OW2 PvP and they were playing on maps like NQ Street and NY.

You seem to be the one not understanding it my dude. Again, multiple people in this thread, have told you the reasons why things happen and if you modify those conditions, then the role becomes trash. You are complaining the sky is blue at this point.
