Wanna group with friends who jumped online? Nope.
You have a teammate throwing a tantrum but won’t leave because of the penalty? Ugh.
I’d rather just have backfill that’s happy to be there than someone throw an entire match because of this terrible policy.

not sure what your issue is. did someone throw a one of your games bc their fried came online? because if so that’s a them problem. the penalty is two minutes, Ive left a game and didn’t even relies it was there till there was 30 seconds left because of everything you do
joining your friend choosing match type ect
yep, can’t leave so i just wait it out barely trying. nothing against the team or the players, just don’t wanna cop the penalty and blizz has given no other options
Most backfill are not happy to be there.
It’s two minutes when you leave for the first friend.
Then the second friend comes online.
Then the third.
Fourth.
Then the next day.
Then the next day.
This isn’t sustainable.
Sounds like the friend group should be more organized.
I would be more sympathetic but me and my friend chat in discord while waiting for one or the other to finish a match, it’s not that bad.
Plus if we knew others would be coming we’d be playing arcade (for example yesterday I was playing zombies 2.0 till my friend got online)

Was it so bad in OW1 when QuickPlay was casual?
Must it be comp-lite?

For the record, I did NOT create this post. I am only REPLYING to it!
Okay, that said.
- Yes, agree Penalties are “STUPID”.
COMMUNITY wants penalties in because people POUT, RAGE QUIT and abandon matches mid-game.
Im a “moderate” person. Which means moderation. I agree with penalties to the extent of those that leave in the last 1:30 of a match, overtime or during COMPETITIVE gameplay deserve some BIG PENALTIES for doing so.
MY “OBSERVATIONS” (emphasis):
1 ) Free 2 play caused lots of leavers.
2 ) Leaver Penalties caused lots of IDLE BOTS.
People like the penalties because they think it works, you aren’t going to convince them otherwise because Aaron Keller said in his post to the world that it works because he said it works.
I absolutely agree with you. I see the whole picture. We traded one set of problems for another. People stay in matches, they dont play them.
People think the report system works for everything and it magically gets rid of that AFKer, cheater, bot or bad speaking player FOR GOOD and that after a person presses the report button, someone from blizzard magically shows up at the door of said offender, arrests them, takes their computer and burns the computer in the fire and the person that was offending is never able to create another overwatch or blizzard account ever again. Because they are scared blizzard will do it all over again.
Im just reiterating and summarizing what has been discussed in 10 billion heated arguments over the course of 1 year… because you know… whatever.
Anyway, its no different here than politicians thinking the War on rugs is going to solve the Rug problem. When treatment centers would actually have solved the problem much better.
Absurd they even introduced leaving penalties for quick play.
For comp it’s completely understandable and reasonable, but a no-stakes game like quickplay is just silly.
