I think the majority see it through Trillyâs lens even though some people might have good intent. What I donât understand is how people donât even know that, because their unreadable intent is positive in their mind they should know what the general consensus is around a team wipe and saying GG. Itâs like saying we swept the floor with you, which yeah they did but why rub it in.
And I get that, kudos to you for being an optimist, but I definitely see it as a sort of kick em when theyâre down or rub salt in the wounds thing. Especially with this community. Itâs just a super unnecessary thing to say in that situation. Those people are already embarrassed/frustrated/demoralized. The last thing they wanna see is GG or, even worse, âno hard feelingsâ, itâs so condescending. In some situations itâs honestly better to not say anything at all.
Yeah but youâre presenting this as if youâre never on the other side of the equation, being the one doing the stomping.
Itâs cool, it happens to all of us. The devs have been working to try and reduce this forever, but itâs just the nature of OW. Sometimes, certain teams are just executing strategies together in perfect sync (many times without even realizing theyâre doing it), while the other team is all tilted and flaming one another.
Or people whining are to much of a mommaâs boy, you know the saying âsticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.â It turns out that that is trueâŚ
Yeah nowadays when itâs a 100% stomp Iâll just type âgg good teamâ in team chat. But thatâs partially because I keep reading threads like this and am terrified of someone reporting me for saying âggâ when they did not think it was a gg lol
Comp is the same way, players just give up and either go afk or auto-pilot instead of leaving. Iâd rather the trolls be allowed to leave and take my chances with a backfill, personally.
Comp penalty doesnât magically give players a better mindset, it just causes the trolls to linger.
I will always say gg at the end of a game, no matter who won or lost and regardless of whether there was a stomp.
Itâs basic game etiquette.
Even if my team lost because we got absolutely ruined, to the point where it was a complete shutout and no one on my team got any kills, Iâll still say gg at the end.
I play pretty much exclusively ranked. And that is extremely rare for that to happen.
Players in ranked, tend to understand that losing first fight, isnât that big of a deal. Or that you might have a rough first half, but you can always make it up in the second.
I have TONS of comeback games. SO please spare me your âranked is just as badâ nonsense, cus its not.
