Quicker Play poll is on youtube instead of site/email/ingame

Go vote in it over here and bump this so more of the forum is aware:

I can’t help but think they did this with a small part of the audience to manipulate the result.

EDIT: A poll is now also on Twitter

Thanks for the heads up. I’m sure they’ll spin the results as favorable somehow. “Not my cup of tea” is the only negative voting option, and there’s two positive ones.

Rofl I thought that. Funny way to phrase it.

Well, they can’t do it on the forums. This group is overwhelmingly negative as a hobby to the point that we can’t be taken seriously anymore. It has nothing to do with the actual state of the game. I don’t blame them for using another site.

Could’ve put it on the official site and linked to it in-game. Getting responses from ALL the players, not just a small subset.

Of course it does. It was a test for changes they want to make to the most played mode in the game and the primary way most people engage with it.

It’s a scary thought, but I suspect this may be correct. Quicker play was a preview of they planned for season 9. Hopefully the mostly negative reaction and dropping engagement numbers got them to rethink things.

I’m concerned that the thing that matters to them internally is solely the retention numbers, which aren’t going to show up in existing player reactions.

If the retention numbers for new players are better they might decide they’re willing to upset half the player base. They will aim to replace the unhappy half that might quit with new players in the longterm.

Right now the player numbers are treading water, they’re not going up or down. They want to improve retention to start an upward trend. In the longterm people being unhappy with this change will be replaced as long as the new players are sticking with the game more.

So it might ultimately not matter what any of us think.

Youtube is where all the content creators hang out. These are people who shill for blizz for free. The content creators are incentivized to project hype and positivity about the future of the game. If they didn’t, they’d be putting themselves out of a job. A Youtube poll stands the best chance of catching players in their most positive mindset.

Blizzard knew what they were doing when they restricted the poll to their most positive audience. Quite telling that they STILL got a majority negative review under these obviously stacked circumstances.

I suspect they are looking for their “no build” option that draws in players like with Fortnite. Unfortunately, I suspect they are heading for a “patch 1.1.0” incident like Diablo 4.

Yeah probably. Ultimately this behaviour is driven by the GaaS model.

The thing is with no-build is that it’s basically a different game entirely. This isn’t a transformational change of the game, it’s just the game but faster and more broken.

I think somewhere in between, and specific changes for each game mode, would be a good place to land. Every game mode doesn’t need the same exact ruleset (KOTH vs. Push vs. Flashpoint etc.)

True, but the rulesets between QP and comp should be close enough that going from one to another isn’t jarring or requires a completely different playstyle.

Currently, moving from QP to comp isn’t much of an adjustment. You have to play attack and defense on escort/hybrid, and there’s no backfill or group respawn.

Moving from Quicker Play to comp would be quite a surprise to new players who are only familiar with one. They would be completely unprepared.

I’m all for the changes applying to both QP/Competitive equally so there’s no weird jump from one to another, I meant the rules for KOTH don’t need to be the same as Flashpoint, or Push etc.

I’ve seen most people saying they like Push being faster, but Flashpoint being faster not so much etc.

63 percent is “not my cup of tea” looks about right considering everyone on the forum knows about this now.

OK, I see what you mean now. And yes, I agree. Push could definitely use some rule adjustments that differentiate it a bit from other modes.

Good

Neutral

Bad

I read “good but could be better” as “there’s pros and cons”

If they check forums reddit and Twitter for feedback as they’ve said that they do, they’ll have already seen that. YouTube doesn’t really have a place to leave feedback so community post is as good and option for that as any.

That being said I think they should give some indication they actually read feedback on other places like they say they do but that’s part of the problem with blizzard and overwatch. Lotta people get annoyed because they don’t ever seem to really show that they are in fact reading feedback besides 9 months later they make a small tweak to the game after 50,000 people complained and it’s really annoying but I digress

Edit: reading the top comments I actually totally agree. Crazy seeing YouTube comments more reasonable than 90% of posts on the forums lmao

Even without that, it’s about the score I’d expect.

It was never going to please everyone, and wasn’t there to do that. I think they were just looking for 1/2 changes to improve quick play in the future.

Can see it just being some modes having a shorter match time.

The problem with specific changes to each mode is that it will never ever be balanced. Character balance is tied to gameplay ruleset.

This means that all character balance changes will produce some sort of imbalance in some modes.

Mobas just accept this, they accept that half the characters will be underpowered and a group of chars will be meta in each specific mode. It creates a tonne of toxicity around character picks though whenever players don’t like that someone wants to play something outside the meta.

I think they could find a balance. Increasing the Push robot speed by 50% but not increasing Flashpoint progress speed also by 50% isn’t going to break the game, or at least I don’t think it will. They could always revert or tweak if needed.

63% is what it was at when posted. There’s only a handful of people from the forums participating lol. It literally shows only 15 people have clicked the link.
