Quick Play Cheese

you say ‘cheese’ i say ‘learn to play against new angles’

the enemy team doesn’t exist to make the game fun for you; if your bad into bastion and can’t fix your problem, that doesn’t mean the enemy team is cheesing, neither is the enemy team playing defense having a strong defensive comp for defending the point

You don’t think any current characters are an issue? Not necessarily op but you don’t think any could be changed to improve the game?

I mean even Blizzard must think Bastion was an issue with the direction they’re taking in 2.

im not saying ‘stop trying to balance the game’ im saying your using cheese as an excuse and dont really understand what your saying. bastion getting a reworked kit just means they’re trying to make him more interesting, it doesn’t mean he’s cheese in ov1 because you cant personally play against him

I can play against him. My initial point was just about the Bastions you see in the last 30 seconds of a match.

and im trying to explain to you that trying a different strategy isn’t cheese

ok but im still right

If by right you mean you disagree with my opinion

But the characters who do counter him make him outright unplayable. Playing Bastion into Hanzo, Rat, Pharah or Zen is straight up throwing. And those are just hardest counters.

I really feel Phara is extremely map dependent. Same with Rat. Hanzo is the best, assuming you don’t have to use your storm arrows to break shields

I don’t remember the last time I saw a last minute bastion switch work. Is this still a thing that happens?

Yes it is. And your name is fitting for this thread. I’m glad you’re here!

I’ve found that people just play current Bastion wrong. They think it’s, “team make sure I don’t die and I’ll carry with damage.” This. Is. Wrong. He is most effective when taking surprise off angles or providing suppressing fire down lanes and positions himself where it would be punishing to pour too many resources into killing him. When played correctly he’s not that team dependent.

Same as Torbjorn. Most People think Torbjorn need Team Dependent for Turret to Protect.

I agree with this. Blizzard made a hero with a ridiculous amount of damage under the assumption that he would always be reliant on his team. However now if a Bastion catches you off guard for half a second you’re dead.

To be fair, that’s no different to any other high-burst DPS. Most DPS have the ability to just delete any non-tank if they can catch them off guard.

That’s true. But they also don’t have armor and Ironclad

No, but most of them have other abilities/passives which allow them to deal with things in other ways.

Really though, bastion is usually a pushover if you know where he is and think ahead a little. You just need to resist the urge to yolo into his face at mid range and get shredded, which is something a lot of people seem to struggle with.

I agree with this, but it wasn’t the intention of the post to imply this isn’t the case. However I guess that’s what it was taken as, so I made an error.

What? Unless it’s overtime and there’s like three of you trying to cap the point and defending team pulls out a Bastion, you can counter him easy. I can shut Bastion down with Sigma alone.

Oh no, heaven forbid you want to win in a QP game. And as we all know, winning isn’t fun, right? And swapping to Pharah (especially with Mercy already on the team) is much worse than Bastion.
