Quick Play - Blizzard, please do something about it

I actually really want this too. I know you can win games w/o a tank or proper healer but that’s not most games. There are way too many people who only play one character or only dps and so everyone else, to work as a TEAM, is forced to pick a tank or healer even if they constantly do not because they want to. I know I dont want to be like everyone else and say puck it. Those matches are by far the WORST
Or everyone picks dps and the last 2 wait til the match starts and picks 2 more dps. Its infuriating.

Yup, this game plays best in a 2/2/2 meta. Playing as the 5 dps 1 healer team isnt fun, and its not fun to play against either. I would like them to at least try forcing roles, see how popular the mode is. On a good note at least it would make people learn other roles more, assuming they dont just leave right away, which is an issue with penalties for quitting.

I feel like those people would leave a lot until yes, until finally caving enough to the point they’d be forced to learn other roles and I 100% agree. I think it’s absolutely selfish and rude to main 1 character ESPECIALLY when it’s dps and refuse to play anything else. I don’t mean this in a derogatory sense but I think those people have some kind of mental disability. It’s perplexing when this game is about team work as much as it’s about skill. How can you be a team player if you refuse to ever help out your team?

Some people are just selfish, it is what it is, all I want is a better OW experience outside of ranked play.

wonder if they add 200c in any game mode per win if they would aim for the win and a solid team more.

Possibly add a system that tells people what they prefer or comfortable with playing. Add in a icon of the character they Main or want to main.

I would be fine if they added a very small amount of currency per win, like under 5. I am assuming 200c means 200 currency, in which case that is waaaaaaaaay too much and blizz would never sell loot boxes and lose tons of money. I do wish there were more incentives to actually win the game, or if they just wanted to stick with xp, at least make the winners get significantly more xp, not just like 15% or whatever it currently is.

As in the xp of the wins can vary? Cuz majority of the xp we earn is based on how long the match is, at the end you get a little bit more for medals, backfill, winning, consecutive matches and the 20% overall if youre grouped.

Sorry I guess i wasn’t so clear. But wins can pretty much come down to a chance of probability some days someone might only get 3 wins or less a day.

To others depending on the random team, wins might feel, or be unlikely.

True, its a team based game and winning is often much harder some games than others. But imo any incentive to actually try and pick good heroes and make a good comp in qp is a good change. People dont care for the little bit of extra xp a win gives, they just pick what they want and if they win, they win, if not they got to play the hero they wanted while the team comp suffered.

I guess some players dont care for the extra xp while others do. I dont play as often as some people but I owned the game since it came out. Probly looking at my time played it might look to some people like i just got the game. Idk.

If someone played for a long period of time I guess the idea seems pretty unbalance.

When people fill 24/7 in comp, of course they want to play the hero they want to play somewhere, and that is quick play, and I don’t see anything wrong with it.

And that is why qp will remain a cesspool of awful team comps and actual ranked will be the only place to semi reliably get good team comps. Which imo is an issue, and why id like to see a game mode that forces the team to have tanks and supports too that isnt actual ranked.

My suggestion is to overhaul MMR and allow players to deactivate heroes prior to going into the queue. I main Orisa, but i want to practice Winston which i really suck at. By allowing me to take Orisa (and the rest of my mains) off my roster, and hence, unselectable during the game, the system will recalculate my MMR based on Winstons stats and not put me in game where i would be in over my head.

If i’m on Winston and i get put in a team that’s on par with my Orisa skillwise, that team is going to have a very bad day.

I could get behind that if it is a separate game mode. I do think that having mmr for each hero would make it much harder on blizz side of things so I doubt they would ever add anything like that. I think they would just make mmr more lenient in qp before doing something like that. As in a wider range of mmr can get into the same game together.

Part of the problem with EXP bonus for wins, is it does not give much incentive for the people who insta lock DPS, because IF someone fills to make it work everyone wins equally in the bonus exp. They don’t really ‘lose out’ on exp for making bad picks because they get the same as the rest of the team.

On a side note, they need to make the experience better overall. People keep mentioning ranked is for meta, I played 3 competitives the other day and 2 of the 3 had 4 DPS in it. The second one even degenerated into 6DPS cause i gave up on the team for the second round (control point). Some guy even started to harass me for asking for a 2/2/2 in competitive while im on solo tank.

Im not sure if C.O.D recently shut down and everyone migrated to here with the mentality of ‘I just want to shoot stuff every game and screw the team’ Lots of people seems to think if they can just shoot the enemy first its going to be OK. Ive had comp games where it goes 4/1/1 and the DPS actually WANT praise like look I have golds praise me for carrying. >:frowning: I like the new skins they introduce, but its starting to turn into a League of Legends community that’s not worth it.

I don’t know in what universe you think people don’t play to win in Quick Play, but you’re seriously misunderstanding something. So what, did you just go a few games with 5 dps? Who cares, join them, be the sixth. It works sometimes, it just takes different strategies and playstyles which are often times more effort than they’re worth competitively but they can work. Did you have a bad few games with people picking heroes that you consider throwing? (If that’s the case, where the heck do you expect them to play those heroes? Just adjust your strategy to work around their pick - even if it’s less effective or more easily countered, you can do it. People will play who they want to play, I don’t know why you would even consider demanding an enforced rule that forces players to fill and flex. Do you have any idea what that would do to Overwatch? All the casual players would leave, and all the people who like to play it seriously, such as yourself, would get tired of filling (as you apparently already are) and just quit because you can’t play the way you like anymore.

What do you even consider toxic? People one tricking (in the casual mode???)? People being rude? Teammates not communicating about the objective but just relaxing (which, if they’re communicating, they’re usually willing to at least listen to comms)? I’ve run into none of this. In fact, the people I play with are often too serious and demand too much of me when I am trying and playing to win, so I just stay out of VC unless someone asks or if a friend suggests it. Boom, my only issue (people placing constant expectation on me and being a little rude) solved. AND they still get to vent and be angry at me all they like if they want to blame me. Everyone wins.

Quick Play is just fine. I have poor internet, so I can’t do ranked often, but I thoroughly enjoy Quick Play. My biggest issue with the mode is that I’M never good enough. Not anything or anyone else.

True, but if its a big enough difference the people might be willing to swap off of dps to make a comp that has a better chance at winning. I dont think xp is the best incentive since many people dont really care about loot boxes outside of events. But i hope they at least do something to make qp less of a mess.
