Fair. Which RQ is the issue.
5v5 doesn’t solve queue times, because isn’t a problem with the format. The fact they changed how folks are matched and got broadened to mask this fact is simply lame.
The game has been “balanced” towards RQ, yet the place that most of my games are balanced is on Open. How funny is that?
It didn’t, maybe the freshness and f2p aspect masked but didn’t. The game is about counterplay, which RQ made stuff being masked throwing the responsability around. RQ made folks play 1-2 heroes. Which now, tanks got the least desireable end of it.
RQ didn’t solved anything that Open couldn’t. Was just a lazy move to stop brig, as lazy as brig was to stop the old meta.
It didn’t, if was Contenders and OWL wouldn’t be cut.
On Open, I see a fair share of all roles. At least me. I would rather play a nerfed tank version on Open than actually RQ as tank and I literally played half of my time of OW1 as tank.
Maybe my MMR in there is pretty much defined, which maybe the issue were folks knowing to play and adapt, not exactly the open aspect of it. The “New initiative” and RQ only helps for roughly 30-90 matches if they’re “progressive” after that, keeping playing it will start to hinder instead of helping.
That share I blame Blizzard, tho.
The new engine will go nuts even on 6v6.
That wouldn’t solve. The faster solution would adopt an hybrid RQ for starters and Open on the long run. That way the amount of ppwercreep would been kept in check.
Yeah, mostly reducing barrier heroes and reworking a few heroes would fix. Instead of requiring fine tunning the entire cast. Sadly to 6v6 work on the new engine would require a ton of work, the new engine is broken to the point of several problems rising since ow2 launch.
Even with nerfs on hp. Which is funny if you account that the playerskill would be more accurate and less variable than actually on RQ these days.
By simply changing minimal stuff 6v6 would work but if they used the pre-ow2 base. Using current base the only thing they could salvage would be using different patches/balances bases on the mode. Sadly their current engine is too broken to actually run fairly on 6v6 these days. My guess is that the only route would open or eventually reach a point of not having tank and neither sup. At that point I would rather shift towards ffa modes.
