It was a joke post my dude lol
joke, what is that?
is it food?
I mean itâs true in a way, OW is easy and spoonfeeds win conditions to you especially for DPS.
Its teamplay vs solo play.
In a 1v1 match (take most fighting games as an example) there isnât someone there to cover for your weaknesses and without getting into specifics the person who played better won.
In team play, It takes the average of skill from both teams so even if youâre objectively the best player in the match, you could still lose by having the objectively worst player in the match.
In team games you can substitute communicational skills for mechanical skills, if your team has the worse mechanical skill average compared to the other team, you can still overcome that gap by employing teamwork.

People in this thread are acting like heâs trash talking the game. It was literally just a discussion on OWâs approachability compared to Quake. There was no value judgement in what he said. This headline is such clickbait. The TL;DR is quake was brutal and tended towards blowouts, some people liked that. Many modern games such as OW are more new player friendly.
You know Carmack has nothing to do with Lawbreakers right? That was by Cliffy Bâs studio. Cliffy B has nothing to do with Quake as well. He worked on Unreal series and Gears of War.
The debate on what is a high skill fps game always goes down the same black hole where every suggestion gets shut down and for some reason or another and is considered ezâŚexcept ARMA.
I mean, Overwatch has a lot of nonsense built into it, too. But some dude coming from Quake and Doom trying to put down other games as too casual is somewhat laughable to me.
So what defines a bad player? Iâve seen your posts and you are very much one of those that think aim is the be all end all of OW and also believe in a game designed around swapping when needed your hero should be untouchable. Everyone that enjoys the game plays by the rules and are comfortable with them. People like you, and evidently this dev, have it in their heads that having âgood aimâ overwrites your lack of game sense or tactical awareness. Maybe in the other departments other people are just WAY better than you seeing as those traits are far more important to have than aim.
Pretend to be a human aim bot all you want, if all your targeting is the large hp tank for their healers to heal youâre the one doomed to lose.
The debates always go like this: someone says Overwatch is ez, and CSGO takes skill. Then someone says CSGO is ez compared to tribes. Then someone says tribes isnât really that difficult when you compare it to Quake. Then someone says Quake isnât really high skill if youâre not a complete potato, and they mention ARMA. And no one disagrees that ARMA is high skill.
Doesnât matter, 'cause the king of all FPSes was AVP2, sadly taken from us before its time.
To an extent, I would say it rewards lower skilled heroes a lot more for players. Especially over time. Symmetra was the BIGGEST example with the ability to break line of sight and still screw you up.
Now we got heroes like Mei who were buffed so they can multi-freeze targets with he primary fire, block any push, etc etc. Moira. I LOVE playing Moira, but the character still baffles me. She gets rewarded many times for her orb and her ability to soft lock around corners, keep teams from dying rapidly, and her âescape any deathâ key.
There are more, but jesus the guy isnât 100% wrong.
bad players will simply be bad no matter the circumstances, there is no reason to sugar coat stuff to anyone, a game shouldnât go out of its way to cuddle these type of players, if they want to stop being bad then they should strive to get better, releasing Moira for players in bronze to rise up to plat is just ridiculous
No itâs just meant for every spectrum of skill, from mercy to tracer, tracer not being that skillful compared to other games.
Preach.
I still remember turning around a losing game for the Alien side by becoming a Predalien then onto a Queen.
I remember so many epic battles as the Alien, and often as the Predator. Iâve 1v1ed Queens, and taken their skulls in triumph! I killed Marines, Predators, and other Aliens as the well-balanced Drone, and the map design! So good! Uuuuuugh.
What a game, what a game. If I could ever afford the license, I swear Iâd update the game to modern specs and itâd be glorious once more.
The point being made if kind of redundant? A game?!??! Making people feel good about themselves? The absolute horror! Imagine enjoying playing a game? Youâre not a real gamer until youâve broken at least one monitor in a fit of unbridled rage.
Sarcasm aside, yes sometimes thereâs dead weight, so to speak, on a team. But thatâs part of learning how to actually play the game. Itâs part of learning anything really. Even experienced players have games where they really werenât contributing to the best of their ability.
Could matchmaking use tweaks? Of course. Are there heroes that need balance? Of course! But isnât that the case with most every game?
What you call âbad playersâ are just people not as good as you are. My friends are much lower ranked but I donât call them bad.
A glorious game. Except if you were a marine and your damn motion sensor gave you constant ptsd. Iâm not saying it wasnât fun playing as marine because they nailed the immersion factor and you really felt like you were in the movies.
