Proton support is broken: game crashes on ESC, chats, etc

i posted my launch options (environment variables) above if you wanna give those a go.

That video would be useful

Well, I just tried a complete reinstall and it didn’t fix anything. And now I lost all my settings, and I can’t change them because my game crashes when I exit the game.

I can’t really play until I can change settings, so goodbye Overwatch until this is fixed!

Your settings are stored in your documents folder in your wine prefix. You can still manually change them if you’re willing to dig for them.

Here’s the video. I’m not sure why my mouse cursor is gone, but here’s it all working in the practice area. works in game too, but I’m tryna study.

Okay, I’ve booted up Battle.net version of Overwatch through Lutris and it seems to work just fine (tested GE Proton 10-25 and Steam Proton 10.0-3), without the need of disabling any overlays like DXVK’s HUD or MangoHud… which is weird, because my friend also tested the Battle.net version few hours ago, and it was crashing for them. I don’t have any special env variables set, just DXVK_HUD=compiler

Maybe they’re pushing some sort of patch?

Okay so on lutris just putting in the variable DXVK_HUD=compiler completely fixed it for me.

Doesn’t make sense, that just activates a visual indicator that shows when the game is compiling shaders.

Well listen i’ve been trying for last hour and a half and suddenly putting in that var completely fixed it. I couldnt even get in game

Also the only reason i tried is because the only 2 people having no issues had that var set. By the way, the compiler hud was already enabled on my setup through mangohud so it’s not like it added the hud

I have DXVK_HUD=compiler and it is crashing for me.

It seems like Blizzard has pushed a fix

They’ve pushed a patch that seems to have fixed everything for me. Hooray!!!

If this was really something that only happened on linux, their speed at fixing linux-specific issues is outstanding. Our little linux club is growing!!!

This really is amazing. I’m truly happy that Blizzard cares about us.

Hi all, apologies for this issue. We have released a patch that we believe resolves this crash. Thanks!

YES! It’s fixed!!! Thank you Blizzard!

Very refreshing to see Linux support from a big FPS title, especially since there are a number of other AAA games I cannot play because I choose to use an ad-free, customizable, and performant OS.

Well done guys <3 can’t wait to play the update

As someone who recently as in the last month switched from Windows to Linux to get away from the pile of dog poop that is Windows, thank you Blizzard.
