Pride Skins/ Cosmetics

Rainbow haired Soldier:76 ftw, with Madonna’s Vogue song playing during tactical visor.

Exactly this. Pharah and Brig is the better ship.

Why wait till June? Just cause it’s pride month?

LGBT folk don’t only exist during pride month, you know?

Sure, I get it’d make sense as it’s a large celebration of the LGBT community as a whole, but they could really do it any time they wanted, at least in terms of adding smaller cosmetics like a Pride coloured OW icon and a Pride flag spray. Skins, sure, have them be a small mini event during Pride month where you can purchase a Pride recolour epic skin for all the heroes of your choosing, either having them on sale throughout the month with money going to LGBT+ Support charities, or have them available as an epic drop in lootboxes and have them available for purchase with in game credits, and a percentage of the money from lootbox purchases going towards LGBT+ Support charities.

But just because it’s pride month doesn’t mean any LGBT themed cosmetics need to be restricted to June. People should just accept that LGBT people like myself exist, and we don’t just appear during pride month for a culture shock or something. Not saying this is what you meant, but that’s what a lot of people tend to believe that the LGBT just wanna shove their agenda down people’s throats; we don’t. I just wanna be able to have a boyfriend (lmao, like that’s gonna happen :joy:) and hold his hand in public without being condemned to the darkest pits of hell, y’know?

Until they boycott the game, and then the game falls into a deep hole causing the servers to be shut down to save money

Thinks back to the time I got some serious hate for criticising those ships in depth… :face_with_monocle:

There are better ships out there. Hell, there are better gay ships out there.

I won’t lie, I’d dislike that a lot, too. I don’t really care if they made skins or not, but if they do, perhaps they could do something akin to the OWL skins? As in, each hero has a rainbow skin you can purchase? With credits, of course, not OWL tokens as it has nothing to do with the OWL.

Neither does the image of an apache helicopter but I got silenced from the forums for suggesting such a thing.

:man_shrugging:

Too many snowflakes if you ask me.

If you want to prove a point, don’t do it by using an incredibly overused reference that has such negative connotations…And I say that with genuine respect.

What other reference would you like instead?

Not “apache helicopter”, perhaps?

I’m saying this so you don’t get banned again. I’ve seen your posts before - You’re a smart guy. I’m sure you can be more creative than that. That’s all. :v:

I"m not interested in what other people consider to be better or worse ships out there. I’ll let them have theirs, let me have mine.

I’m just saying you shouldn’t expect them to be canon.

Yah it does sound great. But their are countries who would oppose that and it’ll prob cause a lot of issues. I mean but if they can and avoid those problems then they should take it.

I’ll say what I always say when it comes to stuff like this. LGBT content for the sake of having LGBT content is a political statement. It’s a political statement everyone with a shred of common sense or decency should support, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s still a political statement. And I think games should stay away from making political statements as a precedent.

There’s plenty of political causes I support, but that doesn’t mean I want them plastered over videogames. For example, I think the way USA has treated the Kurds these past few years is an utter travesty that wasn’t addressed nearly enough by the media. I still don’t think that’s something Overwatch should tackle. It’s just not the platform for it. :man_shrugging:

Obviously the LGBT cause is more… lighthearted? than that. It’s not a delicate international relations issue, for one. But at the core, the situation is the same, it’s a political statement.

There’s a way for Overwatch to show support for causes like these without being too “in your face” about it. Make more LGBT heroes, and show that via in game voicelines, or spinoff media like the comics or an animated short, as an example. Or make a Kurdish hero, when people talk about the hero the topic of their situation will inevitably arise. And yet the game itself will still feel like it’s… nothing more than a game. Not trying to be political. Which is as it should be IMO.

You don’t need to make rainbow-colored skins to show you support LGBT causes. :man_shrugging:

Just my two cents, you are free to disagree (and let me know that you do  ).

I’m opposed to the idea. I mostly think many people wouldn’t care, or at least, the people who do would be outnumbered by those that don’t. It just seems like a way to give Overwatch good PR.

Hey, you don’t know what Han and Chewie do when they’re alone…

They’ll never do it. It’d make the game much harder to sell in countries where LGBT paraphernalia is banned.
