The recent leaks have specifically been about stage 4 OWL.

However, there were also leaks that 222 was being considered for stage 3 but postponed, and this would mean implementing a 222 lock three quarters of the way through the season.

Why would you postpone implementing 222 in OWL, and still do so part way through the season? It seems likely that would be to coordinate with 222 on ladder.

Nothing is confirmed by Blizzard yet, not even the 222 lock for Stage 4 of OWL, but if we believe the leaks (and they are consistent with each other which makes them fairly credible), then it seems likely 222 is coming for everyone and soon.

I know you said out of curiosity which is fine, but it doesn’t really matter by now, it’s happening better get used to it ha!

Haven’t played Comp this season but I finished the last one in high Plat. And I’m absolutely pro.

People cry about their creativity being gone but like…before GOATS became the big thing and for the longest time, no one even CARED about it. 2-2-2 was the standard everyone wanted and now, that it might be implemented, suddenly it’ll kill the game? I don’t get it.
Plus the majority exaggerate everything when they talk about how much it’s going to ruin the game. We don’t know if it’s a locked queue or not. We don’t know if you’re not going to be able to switch classed mid game. Maybe it’s simply just to make sure a team has a base of 2-2-2, that there’s a guarantee for 2 of every class as a base. Sure, you might have idiots that queue for tank and then choose DPS if that is the case but that’s my speculations on what it could be. And that’s literally all we can do. Speculate how it works. But we have the people against it crying Doomsday because they’ll have to imagine Overwatch actually having a balanced base and there’s a chance for these selfish 5 DPS comps to stop.

Master/GM - I’m for it. Why not? If it makes balancing easier for the Blizzard team, then implement it.

I believe it will make several indisputable improvements:

  • Matchmaker wont create lopsided bad comps ie 6 one tricks in the one role.
  • Role queue means you wont have to fight for your role in the hero select screen.
  • All players SR will be reflected in the role they play meaning you have much less chance a player plays a hero they are unskilled in.
  • Watching OWL is a better experience when viewers see the Pros do things they themselves want to emulate.
  • At the end of the day players predominantly choose to either pick with no synergies in mind or fill to 2/2/2 anyway. Crazy comps (except sometimes for GOATs), don’t form out of a team plan and when they do form, people get upset.

Only if they introduce it as a new mode instead of replacing the current competitive. Otherwise I’m completely against it.

Goats is the result of creativity. But brig is a pure failure in every aspect. I don’t think they should forcefully take away this freedom from players just to make up for their own mistakes.

Silver here! I don’t care, and I wouldn’t have replied if not for this post.

It could still all fall through, imo. There must be a reason they haven’t announced it yet. Maybe there are some technical hurdles that could still scupper role queue.
