So was thinking about this and wanted others thoughts. Perks might end up being not such a good situation especially in comp because of this reason. Say I’m a Bronze to Gold player and I choose to play Ana in Comp match. I’m not really doing well but don’t want to switch off because I know my perks reset with new character choice. So I now stay playing a character I’m not great with just so I can’t get to Level 3 perks.
Thoughts if this was to happen with players in your games having same mentality? Am I overthinking it?
It’s bad. It’s another snowball mechanic in a game that already snowballs hard. Once you fall behind, the enemy gets stronger and you won’t catch up. Counter-swapping is dead because you give up your perks and you’re even further behind now.
Perk XP scales with the match timer so you do get perks faster, but overall this has been a concern in the back of my mind as well. Granted, I havent played the game since perks were added so my opinion doesnt mean much atm.
While it’s another thing for players to learn, it really is no different from ult charge. Indeed, it’s actually easier to get back and the perk value doesn’t outweigh a worthwhile swap.
The only thing really hit is outright spamming counterswaps.
Perks are bad because people are already finding the best perks and deciding the pick them at the start of the game. That’s fine but now imagine someone takes the bad perk. All Blizzard did was give players a way to nerf their own character.
This is gonna be a big problem because a lot of players won’t swap when they need to because they’ve got perks.
