Blizzard doesn’t need any more help thinking of ways to lean further into the DPS power creep. They’re plenty stupid in that category already.
Going to have to drop his bullet pre damage from 20 to 18 by removing his spread entirely.

soldier 76 is fine, hes not op but hes not bad either if he were to receive a buff it shouldnt have anything to do with damage at all, maybe a plus health buff to his heal or more hp
I think soilder could maybe do with a spread reduction but not complete removal of spread.
Soldier is good… If you have good tracking. So you could argue he is perfectly balanced, rewards skill, punishes lack of it.
So, Soldier has perfect accuracy for his first three shots, then progressively decreases to a maximum spread after continuous fire. (The spread is pretty negligible for a few shots after the first three.)
If Soldier’s gun is only meant to be accurate in bursts, his gun should just fire in bursts.
Not necessarily locking you in like Baptiste, but automatically stopping fire when the spread starts hitting its peak.
For his ult, it can just stay full-auto for obvious reasons.
I don’t believe this manual burst management is really “Sk1llful” so much as annoying micromanagement that no other character really has to deal with.
(Such as how McCree’s primary fire “recoil” automatically resets to neutral before he can fire another shot.)
If this is too controversial as a hero change, it should at least be a hero-specific option toggle.

I think his spread is necessary to not make him overly powerful. As someone who plays Soldier regularly, just the thought of having no spread makes me shiver on how powerful that would make me. Also… SOILDERRRR.
I main Soldier, and I like the idea, but I think some QOL changes and maybe a damage buff would be better.

5 round bursts have no spread, just have better fire control.

Soldier with no spread would still be just a bad version of Widowmaker. Hero needs more substantial changes.
Literally every other hitscan does that and is fine.

The problem is, Soldier will find it very hard to be viable as long as he has sustained DPS in a game with high healing.
It is so hard to kill with soldier nowadays.
You’ve gotta cut through armor, huge heals, AND on top of that, you have a stupid large spread.
Nerfing hitscans won’t make it any easier for him to kill.

It’s only been nerfed because before it was too strong before. I think now it is at a good place.
Just because it’s lower than it has been, does not mean it isn’t high.
Despite this, Overwatch has like the highest amount of healing compared to most other games. Cutting through someone who’s being healed is very difficult, and makes killing things a lot harder. It is why burst damage is so relavant nowadays, because it ignores healing and armor, the two things dominating the game rn.
Overwatch is the only real game of it’s kind
Other than TF2 but even then they are very different games
