I am scared. So, please be gentle.
I want to improve so any positive suggestion would be appreciated.
I am S2/3. Drop to B1 during end and starting of any season but usually around S2/3. I started playing OW this year and been only playing Kiri since like Jul/Aug this year. Maybe June not sure…
I’ll have a look now. I won’t do a play by play but I’ll offer what I think are general tips from trends I’ve observed in your gameplay, if that’s any use?
No worries… Do you have any more replays by the way? Your last few matches, win or lose would be cool as it’s not cherry picked. I can’t watch them all now but I’ll try to squeeze them in when I can.
Sorry for the big delay, it’s been quite the day. Uff…
So I’ve watched quite a bit of the replay and a couple of things stood out. Your awareness of what’s around you from audio cues in particular, seems lacking at points. Are you playing with a stereo (or higher) headset?
You appear reluctant to fight the enemy at times, even though you seem to frequently get kills when you actually do. See the S76 on a flank with ult that you pinged midway; you saw that nobody on your team was reacting and you are in a good position to engage and kill him. I’d take that 1v1. Also on this part you not only chose to use your cooldowns, you used them in an odd order and timing (wasting them) and ended up right in front of the enemy team to boot. It was probably the worst outcome of all. If you can get big plays by cancelling the S76 then supporting your team you’ll get more clutches and win matches through moments like that.
Your sensitivity might be a bit low? Sometimes you appear to struggle tracking enemies that move sideways or quicker. Also peeling for team mates could be improved with quicker turning. What sensitivity are you using right now? I might not suggest a huge change immediately but might be something to look at depending on your answer.
Do you practice fighting with Kiri in arcade or custom matches?
You also don’t really use the wall climbing ability, nearly always completely grounded. It’s a very powerful tool not just to get advantageous positioning but also whilst duelling. Try to use that as much as possible!
You should check out Flats’ streams on youtube. He can be quite harsh when it comes to pointing out player deficiencies, but most of the time he makes good points.
A long time ago I ended up on one of his critique video’s without realizing it, until my friend pointed it out. I was playing Ana at the time, and was given some props for “being the scariest player on both sides at the moment.”
really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks for taking the time
i play it on my tv and i have xBox’s mic headset connected on one ear just for team chat… I have a bad habit of ignoring stepping sounds… in my mind, i am thinking that i need to prioritize healing and my DPS will kill the flanker… and if I get low then i will just use suzu or tp… but usually its too late for my suzu. i am trying to change this habit.
more scared of my own team tbh… in some games i have flanked and get at least one kill in the backline which resulted in us winning the team fight… but my team would flame me for not being with the team and healing… so, i tend to focus more on healing… I am in silver…
gotcha gotcha. I will rewatch this part and not make the same mistake.
yes… very… 20 for horizontal and 10 for vertical. TBH, i am not sure which sensitivity should i use on console… when i first started playing OW, it was on 50 and 50 by default. Since it was a little too fast, i reduced it and haven’t changed it since. Should i keep working and getting used to the sensitivity till I am comfortable with 50 - 50 or is 100 - 100 the aim? it may take me a few mins or games to get used to faster movement.
i only play in comp… reason being, i think I have gotten used to the basics of Kiri’s kit and now need to focus on better aiming… for which QP isn’t very helpful. Even in comp when I drop to B1, i get, on an avg, about 25 kills per game (sometimes much more than my DPS) because players usually walk in straight line… so, for challenging my skills, I only play in comp.
ahh gotcha… i thought it was only for escaping or getting to higher grounds (which i only do before a team fight)…noted, will practice taking higher ground during a fight…
this is very helpful, thanks again for your help
yea but Flats and Emogg have so many players sending their codes…
You’re more than welcome, I hope it helps! I put some aim settings on the forums before that may be of use to you (was trying to help some other poster) - I’ll try to dig them out a bit later when I’m back home. It shouldn’t be too much of a jump.
I reckon you’ll be climbing in the future as you have a fantastic attitude. You probably don’t need a new TV or anything yet but I would highly recommend purchasing a stereo headset, if you can. I believe it would likely be quite the game changer for you when combined with the more “I can do it myself” mindset and play you mentioned above. The headset doesn’t have to be an expensive one (I’ve used some perfectly serviceable pairs for £25 and a bit under), just any really with a 3.5mm jack you can plug into the bottom of your controller. It’s not about quality per se but just to help with the spacial awareness.
Best of luck if you’re playing at the moment. I’ll drop back with the settings when I can.
There’s some more like bindings too if you expand the quote but that’s the key aim stuff. So it is about double what you are now but still what I’d call low overall, which is fine for the time being. Let me know how you get on.
