It brings a unique set of strats and skillset to the game. It makes certain heroes like sym more viable. The “haha 2cp” is just a meme. We need MORE maps and modes not less. Even if you add a bunch of new ones it still won’t make up for losing all those 2cp maps. Now I admit I hated Horizon, but that’s because of the stupid long sightlines. I was still waiting for it to get reworked so I could enjoy it, because I want MORE maps and variety.
A lot of my favorite maps are 2cp so it’s upsetting to think they’d completely remove all of them from ranked, especially when some of the heroes I play are better on those types of maps.
Yeah, as much as I dislike the mode, I am tired of them removing more content than they add.
I’d love them to rework 2 CP maps… somehow. Gotta admit, I don’t really know how. But as much as the mode is far from perfect, there are people who enjoy it.
Honestly… LET IT DIE.
move it to arcade. its just not sustainable in competitive since the mode is so restrictive with what can be done.
I really hope they can find a way to rework the 2CP ruleset, but it seems like their minds might already be set on removing the gamemode. I’d rather these maps and their unique dynamics still be a part of the game, but at the same time, I understand the difficulties in fixing this game mode, as well as the pressure that the longer it’s in the game, the more players are going to feel forced into these dissatisfying games.
Unfortunately, I think 2CP just hasn’t evolved well with the rest of the game, and that might just have to be a rough reality to live with. I’d still like to see at least one more attempt at changing 2CP up, another experimental before it’s “put to rest.” I think the game mode has potential, but it really needs to be reimagined for what Overwatch today is like. It made perfect sense back when the game first released, but it’s steadily been power crept in its own way; the dynamics of the rules and map layouts just don’t really gel with how everything works now.
I happen to like 2cp maps. I just don’t like the mode. In my experience, players on both sides do not respect or understand spawn timers/locations. So it becomes a mess organizing even a somewhat coordinated push, especially on second point attack. There have been so many games where players blatantly refused to answer the call to group up, causing us to waste so much time. If more players understood to either group up, or wait for your teammates to be in a position to flank it would be better.
Unfortunately, that’s just not the case, and I’m not sure any changes would help
aliviate that. I’m not against trying to save the mode, I just don’t see it happening currently. But who knows, maybe there are some people with great ideas that could help fix things.
i think they’d only disappear from competitive, not quickplay
Nothing is confirmed, but it might not be in quick play either. Sounds more like a new arcade mode.
They said it def won’t be in comp, maybe not even in qp, but it will certainly remain in arcade.
It’s quite the opposite. 2cp allows many niche heroes to flourish, even at high level that blizzard loves so much.
No I want 2CP gone, it’s just has too many bad design flaws within the maps
I’m sick of defenders being able to push up to the attackers spawn on the second point and not be punished for it because they respawn before we can even push
I’m sick of losing fights that would have been won had the defending team not had excessive spawn advantages and were able to stall out due to defenders that had died before the main fight
I’m sick of having to spend so much of the game just walking and waiting to regroup because of the excessive distance to the objective
And I’m just sick of pushing excessively strong chokepoints
Capture points are fun on hybrid maps because the unfun elements don’t exist, the entire mode needs to be deleted and started out fresh for it to work, yes it sucks they’re just outright deleting it but redoing an entire mode that may not even work out just isn’t worth development time
I’d rather they cut 2CP from QP as well. I don’t see why Comp should be the only mode that benefits.
2CP is a broken mess. Maybe they’ll change it to 3CP, so there’s the chance or recovering what you’ve lost.
I think the question to ask is:
What do people like about 2CP that they don’t get anywhere else?
As soon as you cap the KotH point, you essentially have a slice of 2CP to play with. one team needs to cap it, the other has to defend it.
When you start out in Eichenwalde, you essentially play a one-point 2CP map until it turns into Payload. One team needs to cap it, the other has to defend it.
So the ‘challenge’ of capping a point is technically there in two of the other game modes.
So maybe ONLY capping two points is the issue. And the fact that you ONLY CAP points, and do nothing else. There’s no payload, there’s no flag, there’s no variety in the fights or the fight arena.
Maybe people don’t like it because the matches are typically shorter and a LOT of the gameplay involves choke points, compared to other modes which perhaps have a lower ratio of choke:open area.
I think 2CP can die. I don’t think queueing for 10mins to DPS and getting Paris Defence will ever feel good. The games are shorter, the fights are less varied, the maps are less fun, and there’s something quite special and fun about overtime payload pushes that 2CP doesn’t offer.
2CP is an awful mode, and I hope they also remove it from quickplay. It’s always a gamble on whether you are going to win or not, because a few lucky Q’s can win you the entire match compared to other modes.
For 2CP to survive and stay. Would definitely need to gutted down to the stubs and be somewhat completely changed.
Sorry, another quick point…
I also think that, if (when?) the OW team put their minds to it, they will come up with SO MANY better gameplay modes than 2CP that there simply won’t be the room for it.
If PvE is better, and Payload and Hybrid are better, and if TDM is better, and if Push and Gun Game are all better (read: more popular, better engaged, better numbers) then 2CP will only ever be offering a less fun, less profitable, lower quality experience.
