Yikes, this is the worst, most selfish response I’ve ever gotten… I guess I shouldn’t be allowed to play comp for being a damn loner, let me guess? You have a group of friends that you play regularly with right? So this doesn’t apply to you.
There’s other team based games out there with separate ladders for competitive play, that is not an excuse. I’ve played other team based games with solo/duo/trio/full team competitive ladders/skill rating systems, and all of these games had better matchmaking/less one sided games.
I am not against a 6 stack vs 6 stack comp ladder, I just don’t think excluding people who don’t play in a six stack is a very smart idea.
I’ve tried stacking with strangers, never doing it again, to much toxicity/flaming. And I don’t have any friends who play this game. When I play comp I do care about the competitive element of the game, I’m always in VC, I’ll switch if my team asks me too, What does this, or “just play QP/arcade” have to do with wanted solo Q only? I guess I shouldn’t be allowed to play comp since I have no one to play with, right? Jeez what’s wrong with you.
I’ll duo with you if you want to. Me and my brother play a couple nights a week. We could be a trio? otherwise keep on soloing and having fun, there is nothing wrong with not wanting a team of solos to go against a 6 stack, but personally I haven’t come across that situation very often. Does it happen often to you? If so that’s quite unlucky.
Well they will still always have an edge over non-stacking players. And a lot of players already get mad for being in a game against those stacks. I don’t know about you, but when I’m matched against those stacks, or anyone else I already asked about this, they get mad at this matchmaking/those players. in like 3/10 games people will actually going try even harder themselves, but when you lose after that you just become more frustrated. Winning a match against those feels more rewarding for me than getting 50 bucks for free.
Yes, in open queue it feels like i get more games with 4-6 stacks than with normal solo/duo, despite me playing duo at maximum.
while a 6-stack-only and solo-only queue makes sense on paper, it would screw up the matchmaking really hard. How would a 5-stack get into games if all the solo players (or even a reasonably high number) want to avoid playing against all 5-stacks? How would 6 stacks get matches at all, if there aren’t enough other 6-stacks playing?
It’s easy to respond to these problems with “tough, I don’t care about anyone else”, but that’s not how Blizzard has to approach it.
Well apparently not everyone cares, there being an option does not mean you will have the entire playerbase using this feature. There could also just be a different ladder for people who actually want to play with 5 other people, like in other games.
Making 6 solo players face a full teamn is just weird and unfair.
These games for solo players are super rare and sometimes a necessity for queue times. That 6-stack will be punished more and you and your teammates will most likely be higher ranked. This is a team game anyways, it’s all about finding a team or a friend group to play with. So many combos, synergies, teamplays to pull off.
Not all 6-stacks are tryhard best players in the whole universe. Most likely it’s a friend group where there are a mix of good and bad players. They might not even communicate much about the game, they might be playing just for fun. You will sometimes have to face people that are grouped up, you can deal with it because matchmaker makes the match easier to you already
If I werent facing those games a lot, I wouldnt even mention it. But I’m facing them a lot, which makes it very dumb. I would have rather waited that extra time to avoid them.
No, we arent. Alway in the same skill group/or cant check because they for some reason implemented hiding your profile. Never seen a gold or something similar in those teams.
These games happen way to often for me, at this point this is not even bad luck but rather a sh*tty matchmaking. Every time I play with my other team mate, he always quits after like 2-3 games because we got this very thing happening and he gets frustrated.
I play arcade and Quick play sometimes and I would really like to to block being on a team with a 5 stack, 7 out of 10 times they ignore the fact I exist, no heals no help they are just in it for themselves. When I ask for a heal they got toxic and they organize among themselves to report me for throwing… which I didn’t do.
Surely you know tho that they will still have an edge over every non stacking players, right?
Oh and also, you gotta know that sometimes you dont even get players in voice or that even speak english, right?. The majority of stacks will somehow have a synergy, better communication & in open queue a chance of a matching comp.
I got matched against a 6 stack yesterday, they played goats. We were trying our best to somehow communicate to do the same, nope we got someone that just spoke a foreign language and left the voice channel. very fun! really enjoyed that!
I mean, this. It sucks in theory, but according to Blizz, and I believe them statistically it doesn’t make much difference as most stacks don’t coordinate much better…
I am far more annoyed at buddy pocketing where some Mercy lives attached to a DPS or tank friend and ignores her team.
My favorite is the response they give of “don’t you have friends”? Oh the mind of a typical 14 year old half-savage is a place without reason…
Oh yes, this also happens a lot. you get mixed with them and instead of actually supporting the entire team, they just support whoever is in their party. Again, yesterday i played with my team mate. we got matched with & against a 4 stack. They got mad 30 seconds into the game and said “oh you think we are going to win this? we will go afk on attack”. didnt even get heals sometimes, they just ran past me. (after team fight)

We actually somehow managed to win, queued again. 2 minutes later → OH? THEY ARE ON THE ENEMY TEAM NOW AND WE ONLY HAVE US AS A DUO? They really waited long in that queue, didnt they?? We went hard on them and won, literally the best feeling I had in this game for a long time. If we would have lost, I’d be furious.
I personally hate having stacks on my team. One of them always throws and the rest defend the individual so they never get banned. These players never learn better and think they are amazing because they get fed false pretences straight into their egos. Its so scummy and another flaw of the report system.
Communication. Communicating strats. Communicating comps. Actually listeting to each other.
Maybe on rare occasions you will find a full stack and they all speak a different lanaguage and dont speak a word of english, but this is very rare.
Even tho I’m at Diamond, people dont communicate as much as you might think. I had gold games where people communicated more than in those lobbies. Most of the time they just chat and say something like “Player X, you are trash”
It’s the exact same problem that happened when they allowed you to avoid players as enemies and some people were having trouble getting into matches because of it. It doesn’t take everyone using it for it to be a big problem.
Which is why they bias groups against groups. Having solos go up against a six stack is rare, but the fact that it can happen at all in spite of that prioritization is a pretty good indicator of the problems with this approach.
