The circular/non-linear layout on these maps would be great for custom games but the new maps aren’t compatible with many game modes. New Junk City would make a great Battle Royale map with a shrinking dome.
Exactly what I was thinking. I would love to make a battle royale mode on these huge maps.
I agree. It would be really fun. Plus if possible, you could make the max player amount 7, 8 or even more on each team since the maps are so big. Also for flashpoint you could make it so that 2 or 3 points at the same time activate at once and whoever controls more points at the same time makes progress. I’ve just now tried the workshop and I’m quite disappointed by the limited options that I have. ![]()
They are too big for deathmatch, they would have to add in walls like in the 2CP maps. Not that that’s not doable, but there are a lot of other maps as well that I wish were also converted for Deathmatch.
It’s mostly just to let workshop creators toggle on the deathmatch mode to the maps. The Quick Play FFA mode would not include New Junk City/Suravasa in the rotation pool. Then we could create 12 player, last alive game modes with upgrades, mods, shrinking zones etc. or the big MMORPG creators would have quite the playground to work with.
You can do that already using the Skirmish mode. Just set the rules using Workshop.
please blizzard it would be amazing
prime cod vibes
it wouldent appear in deathmatch queues it would just be available in workshop on the deathmatch mode
doesn’t matter, still needs the same treatment as the other maps, but I agree it would be nice.
We need more deathmatch maps. pleasseeee. get an intern or h1-b to vibe code it or something
well, it does absolutely matter, if they dont add it to the deathmatch queue then they let people access it in the workshop only and they can also access the entire map without the yellow borders that would make alot of the ideas people want to do with flashpoint harder, they need to just add it to workshop and then make proper deathmatch boundrys for them later
I’m not sure what you are trying to convey. Maps aren’t “added to workshop”. Maps are an explicit relation with the game modes. There’s two possibilities of ways that the map assignment works.
-
Maps are the parent class and have a game mode component which defines what mode is played when that map is active.
-
Game modes are the parent class, and have a maps component that defines the list of maps that can be played when that mode is active.
If it’s option 1, then they simply can’t just assign maps to modes, they would have to duplicate the map and assign the desired modes to the new map instance. If it’s option 2, they would need to set up a system that disables certain maps from the list (like a custom game) when played in the core game outside of customs.
Option 2 would seem pretty viable, however I’m inclined to believe it’s option 1, because of how mode dependent the maps are, it would make more sense for the map to be the parent with the game mode assigned to the map, rather than vice versa.
bro they go into deathmatch and they add flashpoint maps into the map toggle settings and not have them toggled on for arcade its that simple it doesnt matter if it uses method one or two they just add a new configuration for the flashpoint deathmatch just like they originally did when they made adapted other maps for deathmatch except this time its less work because you dont have to playtest what section of the map would be the best to limit the players to. one dude at blizzard could implement this change in a night and fix any potential issues with it after testing the next. if you somehow think they would have an issue toggling it off for arcade refer to the old seasonal map ban system
if you don’t understand the difference of the two scenarios i provided then you aren’t really qualified to say what they have to do.
i understand it literally just doesn’t matter how they do it they just need to do it because they can and they arent. i dont care how the game reads it or what reads what or what is the parent concept or code to subsequent variables or whatever it doesnt matter they can make map work on mode because thats literally their job and they do crazier stuff for events there is nothing you can say that can convince me that they can make an entire halloween update room with a giant wreckingball with his nipples out spewing lava everywhere as people upgrade their heros- but the devs cant make deathmatch work with flashpoint maps. i cannot look into the games code and tell you the EXACT methods they use to get the end result but i know that the devs can and could and they can easily do what is requested.
dont need to be qualified to have the common sense that developers who do such extravagant work would have little issue with such a conceptually simple feature.
you have no idea how the game industry works.
okay bro, whatever u say bro. its impossible to add flashpoint to deathmatch guys its impossible jaakezzz over here says that the gaming industry just hasent reached such a point guys… how tragic- guys im an idiot who doesnt understand the intricacies of game development guys they cant make a map work on a mode wrap it up everybody… overwatch might as well give up cuz they can no longer make significant changes to the code guys its impossible guys idk how game development works
hopefully when they reach the level of technological advancement the overwatch team can make map work on mode they will win a nobel prize in programming since the gaming and programming language industry is apparently that far behind
its probably possible to make flashpoint deathmatch but what is the point? deathmatch isn’t blizzards priority
you can make your own death match by just making a mode on skirmish and making your own scoring mode
