I tried the tank role after months and I remember why, if you dare to have a good match as tank then you’re countered by enemy team and gg. woooow so funny in a 1 tank mode.

I have my favorite(s), but I can play 5 heroes fairly effectively (for my mmr) if I have to. I just consider it part of the job. And I actually enjoy it or In would play a different role, or a different game.
Most team dependant role in the game… your enjoyment of each match is mostly determined by how your own team wants to play. If theyre not interested in helping you, gg go next and prepare to be flamed

I respond in kind. I will help the team as much as I can, but if they don’t feel like following up on my plays, I’m happy to simply play for myself.
And my chats are off, so everyone is getting along great and having a fun time as far as I’m concerned.

Ye I see this especially on Lijnang tower, where if team have hammond/lucio I always DON’T WALK in that brigde but go on the side…. do you think the team follow me? No they keep goin on the bridge over and over to be booped off the map XD

If they switch to counter, just switch again. It’s only a problem if you can’t use enough tools (heroes).
The best role as it encourages people to have a varied hero roster

From a moral standpoint I refuse to play hog, orisa or mauga, given how poorly they are designed. That makes tanking harder, but more fun

you really should learn to play against your counters. this isn’t a pokemon “water beats fire” situation. Swapping is resereved when the entire enemy team comp switches specifically to stop you

It’s always weird to me when people don’t want to use more heroes. I see heroes as tools. Why wouldn’t you want to learn as many as possible and use the right one for the job? Nobody wants you painting the fence with a hammer just because you’re a hammer main.

Tank is the only role where you may feel trapped into knowing how to play several heroes within it. The problem with this is that this makes you an overall worse player.
Specializing and having a small pool is the most ideal.

as tank I play around five of them, and is still annoying to circle them in the whole match
You should not have to. What wack tanks are you playing? Winston, Reinhardt, Doomfist, Ball, and… Hog? Ha ha. Just a guess.

Dva into zarya isn’t even that bad because dva has decent mobility and can run away from zarya.
a worse matchup is Queen into zarya imo because she can cleanse your bleeds, its like kiriko on steroids.

Really…. Because I do it all the time the problem with tanks isn’t the counterswapping it’s that people blame you for everything because you are the biggest thing on the field and everyone can see what you are doing. Instead of them realising that they are not perfect they find it easier to just expect you to be.
Flawed mindset.
Broadening your skill isn’t what makes you climb in ranked. It’s a neat skill to have for sure, especially if your main is banned, but if you try to learn too much at once you’ll just scatter yourself. In the end, you’ll end up being average everywhere but excellent nowhere… Climbing is reliant on a “vertical” personal skillset, not horizontal.
You can only build up proper habits and muscle memory by playing the same heroes over and over again. At the end of the day, knowing how to play okay at 5 heroes unfortunately doesn’t beat being cracked at two heroes.

reminds me of the discussion of how counter swapping isn’t skill expression: as a Rein One trick with some dps heroes and a smidge of support under my belt: ”We(I) don’t do that here.”
it is obnoxious to go into a counter swap sure (or worse with sombra and the love hate relationship on my end, love being a funny gremlin with her, but i also hate fighting her sometimes varying on the player type too. indifferent when she’s on my team.)
really wish they would move away from “counter-watch” and circle around the supports and balance more around them while reducing a lot of dps characters (looking at phara specifically) in terms of damage imho.

Ye when I’m on tank I get a lot more of blame for sure. But people complain every role on everything you do (guess what I’m a flanking Kiriko wich is a normal thing to do)
so in short being farmed, how is called that? mmm feeding and gameplay sabotage. (I mean I don’t report anyone for having a bad game but for sure I’m not stubborn to keep a hero that’s farmed )
