So, I just finished my placements in season 9 and got so triggered. I placed 1825 sr, silver. Last season I placed 2097, gold and won only 1 game out of 10 ( I know it’s bad D: ). Yeah, but I did good so…
IDK, I ended up at 2902 last season, and now it placed me at 3186. A similar thing happened to my friend too, from 2784 to 3068.
Maybe they did something with the placements without telling us?
I don’t think I could take you seriously after this. Also, just play a bunch of ranked. You will rank back up.
This is very likely normal. There are no hard resets in Overwatch competitive play, so you build off you previous season ending hidden MMR/SR. I myself ended 2480 in Season 8 and resume 2449 after going 4-5-1 in placement.
How many games are you even playing? It doesn’t sound like a lot from what you’ve described. If you don’t play a lot of matches the game’s going to have a harder time moving you to the SR you should be at.
Also, as others have said placements are basically just ten matches where your SR is hidden. Only exception is if this is the first season you’ve ever placed (which it doesn’t sound like).
This season felt a bit like a small Sr adjustment across all ranks. I had finished placements s8 at 3687 but dropped to 3333 after s9 placements. I’ve climbed back to masters but it does feel like blizzard dropped people’s ranks to spread out players this season.
Because placements are based on where you ended, not where you placed last season.
