Last season I only won 1 placement match… I was placed at 1400+. This season I won 5 competitive matches but was only placed at 1100+. How?
because the placement system is not very good it just puts you where you left off at last season + - a few SR
It’s likely giving a lot of weight to personal performance, in addition to adjusting for wins and losses. Not saying it’s accurate in your case, I have no idea… but a lot more is involved than just wins and losses
There is no hard resets for skill rating/hidden MMR when a new season begins. The system takes your ending skill rating/hidden MMR and uses the Placement Matches to continue to develop that rating. I have details about this in my Competitive F.A.Q. guide here on the forums.
