They said they would do something about hard-countering in OW2 yet this character remains. I don’t want to play hitscan but every time I try to play Mei/Sym/Junk, someone on the other team will usually switch to Pharah and I have to switch to hitscan or lose. It’s awful game design.
Doesn’t matter anyway I guess All non-hitscan dps mains (and the tanks who are sick of counterswapwatch) can stick to support and keep the queue times high ^^
Echo doesnt spend most of her times over rooftops. She has to be up close to deliver her combos giving prjectile and close range heroes windows of opportunity. Which again just reinforces that pharah is the problem with her perma flight. Having an opportunity to kill echo makes it more fair than trying to shoot pharah with hitscan when on some maps she can even be spamming you from beyond cree and soldiers effective range
the reasons why pharah is so frustrating is because she forces a swap to hitscan and plays at long range where you can barely contest her with a pocket. echo at least plays at close to medium range.
regardless of their power level, echo doesn’t force an instant swap to hitscan because she plays closer, has less mobility and projectile heroes can actually interact with her.
also the fact that her abilites reward precision whereas with a damage boosted pharah it’s kinda like “oops hehe here have some deadly splash damage from rockets that were nowhere near you”
When I see a Mei Junkrat combo spamming the choke point, you best believe im raining death from above as Pharah instead of walking into the skill comp as 76.
I hope she doesn’t get reworked, sombra and hog are busted. Pharah could potentially come out even more busted with a rework so at this point I’m good with just leaving her alone. Im still in shock how the devs feel sombra is fine while I’m going games where I’m spawn camping supports in GM lobbies just to prove a point lol.
The problem with pharah (and tracer and Tracer) is she is an aim check, period, the only way to handle a good pharah is by hoping that your dps and support cam land their shots, if they don’t then you’re just screwed plain and simple, and having a character who has many extremely one sided matchups against many characters is pretty ridiculous.
the only reason why she isn’t doing so well is hitscan is the most popular archetype and there many players who aim is good enough, but that isn’t a garunteed.
She is not that hard to take out without a pocket. Combining her with mercy just gives her too many benefits:
-regens faster than she can get killed due her already janky all directions movement
-her shots that doesn’t require much precision can deal even more dmg when boosted
-makes mercy harder to hit as well
-can be rezzed by mercy if she ever dies
well i mean depends on who you’re talking to. and yeah mercy does make pharah worse, but wouldn’t be a problem to begin with if you have good aim. the problem is her design is gatekeeping. there’s nothing wrong with having subpar aim as there are plenty if characters where aim isn’t important, and you shouldn’t be punished so heavily for not being good enough
ok, and not needing good aim to do well isn’t a problem there are plenty of characters who don’t need to aim and that’s fine, the problem is having a character that demands X lvl of Aim to counter them otherwise you’re almost certain to lose
Tbf they did refer to it a rework, so the confusion is to be expected. And given that the devs consider the roadhog sidegrade that it took them like 9 months to implement a rework then I guess I see why they used that terminology.
