First, I don’t believe we should cater to subpar input methods, just as a philosophical thing. It goes against the competitive nature of the game. I hold this opinion on basically all shooters. In this vein, I can’t fault people for wanting to play the game as designed. Using ill suited controls in any application, even outside gaming, risks repetitive strain injuries carpal tunnel, etc. Beyond that, it makes perfect sense to play the game as designed. For this reason I also can’t fault people for using adapters to use KB/M. Also, not everyone can afford a computer with a full peripheral setup, especially during the current chip shortage, but don’t want to be locked into a controller.
Given that adapter users are a substantial part of the console playerbase, it doesn’t make sense to ban the top 1/3rd of the game, nor does it make sense to leave the status quo as is.
The solution is to implement native KB/M.
For OW specifically, OW is a game where turn speed matters a lot, especially on console where the FoV is limited, but the controller implementation of nonlinear turns is absolutely garbage- I have personally tried it and games from two console gens ago did better. Getting people away from this trash would be a service to the community.
And with all this in mind, it’s ridiculous to let this hold back balance.
And you’re taking the wrong approach to it. Butchering infinite flight just makes her a subpar Tracer.
I was talking about conc. Hover jets makes you a super easy target since everyone knows the trajectory and speed.
On that note, all of my buff ideas generally revolve around more concs. GA has a nonzero cooldown and doing crazy flight maneuvers can easily get her left behind in enemy lines. We should be promoting that and adding depth to it, not oversimplifying it and removing many of the options, especially since infinite flight is a core part of her neutral game.
