My PC recently shutdown in the middle of a comp match. When I rebooted and tried to rejoin, it shut down again. Realizing I was probably suspended for a half an hour, I called it a day.
The next day I hopped on a hit some games, then a couple games in I hit the same issue. Random shutdown, then another shutdown once it rebooted.
My PC is running hearthstone ok w/o problems, but now when I even open OW2 I’m getting insta-shutdown before the menu barely pops.
I read somewhere that I might need to update by GPU, which I did. Still same issue. Any thoughts? PSU? OW2 problem?
I suggest getting some hardware monitor software like MSI Afterburner and check the GPU or CPU temperatures. GPU and CPU both can shutdown the pc to prevent damage if it reaches a critical temperature
I experienced this in the past with my old 1050Ti GPU and i5-4440 CPU
After a throughout de-dusting of the PC, i remembered that I haven’t changed the thermal paste of the GPU ever since I got it like 7 years ago. Now that I gave it a fresh load of thermal paste, it runs much better now (Note changing thermal paste on GPU voids the warranty so only recommended to be done when the warranty time is already over)
Grab HWMonitor and look at the temperatures. If you look through the Windows Event Viewer under system logs, or the Reliability History/Monitor (depending on Windows version) you can probably see which hardware shut down first.
