I’m not giving myself any disadvantage, I won’t be using controller.
Players should be able to use whatever peripheral they’re most comfortable with regardless of platform given the modern proclivity for crossplatform play blurring the lines between platform differences.
Players should have the option.
Then I don’t see the issue.
The differences between PC and Console (on their respective platforms) in the context of that question aren’t all that different.
Hey look, you completely ignored the Steam Deck example.
You also completely ignored the fact that disabled people play video games and that PC platforms provide far more options for accessibility than Consoles do.
you’re right–
So, why can’t controller players choose to play mnk on their console?
eh, usually, in console lobbies people aren’t generally as good as say a PC lobby, as the saying goes, controller is hard to learn, easy to master, PC is easy to learn, hard to master. basically, the skill is really different.
I’m not.
I’m really sorry, I actually have no idea what it is, gonna make a quick google search…
oh okay, so the like Nintendo switch for PC got it.
I am not familiar in the field so you’re right, I didn’t want to give undecated take on it.
I have a mentally disabled little sister, who has adhd and autism, form of spinal bifida, legs whos bones grew out of place, so before you know the whole story don’t give me the ableist crap.
No. If I have to choose between comp and crossplay - I pick a smaller evil for me, which is cross play. But the point still stands - there is literaly no reason, why PC players are forced into that pool, while console get to choose.
Just because there is an other option (that I hate even more) doesn´t make the problem disappear.
It just makes the complaint irrelevant. Playing comp shouldn’t stress you out. There is nothing special about comp. The people who take it super seriously are far and few between. You could also play comp with comms completely disabled. but you do you, I guess.
Comp is garbage where people fixate on “meta” and will not shut up about switching around it.
So yeah, quick play is more fun, but cross play is making quick play a lot less fun.
Calling it discrimination was stupid and that person needs to get a grip, but there is a small bit of injustice allowing console players to opt out but forcing PC players into this garbage situation.
Comp is stressful and people take it too seriously there. My internet is not best and sometimes I run into lags or DC completely. They also won´t let you play your pick without yelling and cursing. I don´t use VC, but I want to use at least chat, thank you very much. I still think QP should have an option too, if consoles have it.
I had more instances of people throwing a fit and throwing the match out of pettiness in the year I played of comp, than the other 5 years of quick play put together.
It is ridiculous how people act in comp. Quick play is becoming just as bad because of cross play.
Here’s an example that I know Overwatch devs have changed matchmaking. In quickplay match, I played with a dps duo that duo’d with a console player. This console player was playing Sojourn with a controller and shooting her rail gun at 10-15% and spamming it. She barely had any movement and basically stood still shooting at things that moved. While her duo’d partner was playing echo shooting at everything that moved and never hard committed to anything. Couldn’t have been higher than silver.
Who did they match with? Two dps PC players. Both that were at least diamond and above. Why am I forced to play this match? I played Kiriko and had 16k healing with 4k damage with 5 deaths. Their supports had 5-6k healing with 2-3k damage. After this moment I knew Overwatch queue times are faster because the devs are allowing vast differences in player skill to be matched.
I don’t want to play against anyone using aim assist. I’ve seen what it has done to other games on PC, and want to play against other people using totally manual input. It isn’t right that console users get to opt out of crossplay but PC is unable to. Let me choose to only play against other PC players using m/kb.
Controller doesn’t need an aimbot. There are (well, there is at least one) tf2 pro playing strictly with controller only, but using gyro to aim and flick stick to change orientations. With these, aiming feels roughly similar to using the mouse.
I wish controller players stopped being such babies crying and crying for developers to give them an aimbot instead of exploring their tools, finding ways to adapt and getting better
I do think PC players should be able to use aim-assist for controller. I play other games on X-box controller because sitting up is dumb and it would be nice to have the option for OW even if mouse aim is still superior.
