PC Crossplay Opt Out

again, the problem is the weird double standard where console players can opt out but pc players can’t.
Why is that?

It’s a low-rank problem, so I doubt anyone cares.

The system is bugged. My alt acct showed up as a console, and I don’t even have OW, or any bnet games, on console.

Funny part is, i see those icons on my friend list, on people who dont have consoles at all so not sure what you try to get from this icons.

Cross-play is exclusively unranked. That said, I don’t know if high MMR players get paired with console players or not. The matchmaking system is pretty loose.

So the way it works is everyone who is offline will appear in your friends list with the crossplay icon regardless of what platform they actually play on.

If they are a PC player, the icon goes away once they come online in game. So, anyone you see in game in your social tab who is online and they’re in your match or you’ve just played with them, if they have the crossplay icon, then, and only then, does it mean it’s a console player. And it doesn’t tell you which console, so you can get kinda lucky and get an Xbox player with 120fps or get super unlucky and get a Nintendo player with 30fps.

If it didn’t auto opt in on console we wouldn’t have hour long queues even In the metal ranks

But it’s good for the game bc more accurate mmr with faster queues

Didn’t a bunch of people complain about queue times and still are

That is not true, its not a coincidence blizzard wont allow PC specifically to opt out. That speaks volumes already by itself.
They know, that it is a negative thing for PC players. The majority of them would opt out in a heartbeat.
Its the same reason we cannot opt out from backfilling, they know the majority would turn it off.

That is because the crossplay is enabled by default. This is the same as saying that the majority of players like private profiles, just because its turned on by default.

On consoles, the player population is way smaller. To be honest, you need PC players way more than PC needs consoles. So even if we say, that the negatives and positives are the same for both regarding the quality of the matches, the que time improvement is only really noticeable for consoles.
So at the end of the day, console players have no real incentive to go out of their way to turn it off, but PC players do, and this is why blizzard dosnt allow it. Because if we are allowed, we would turn it off and that would be catastrophic for consoles. Why? Simply because then your que pool would be fragmented into 2, but none of them would have any real benefit since there is no que time improvement in the crossplay group due to PC opting out, and the console pool, which would be just the same as it is now.

Ew, I hate playing with console players.

They are bad and ruin the unbalanced mess that is called QP even more.

Pls remove them.

Well, no. All that really needed to happen was crossplay being allowed between the different consoles. The PC population was never needed to improve console queue times because:

Console players can’t just enter the PC pool whenever they want. Console players need to be invited onto the PC servers. It’s the only way for them to play on there.

So, ironically, PC players are complaining about console players in their games when PC players are also the ones inviting them onto the PC servers.

And its not like there’s thousands of them lurking around ruining your games. There were probably quite a few when crossplay first came out, but now, 5 months later, only the most loyal of friends will be suffering through controller Overwatch with no aim assist. It’s just not fun.

So maybe you’ll have a bad console player ruin one match, but you’ll also have more bad PC players ruin other matches. People need to stop exaggerating what is now a non-issue. You had a bad game, you got tilted, you wanna blame the controller player, that’s really all it comes down to, and in my experience, often it’s not even the console player who did the worst, it was some PC player with an inflated ego and the game sense and awareness of a goldfish.

They can’t join if you play competitive

Honestly, I’d rather have a console pleb on my side than an emoji user.

Yeah except there’s a symbol shown next to someone’s name which shows if their a console player or not.

Except if you’d looked at any reply to my post, I’ve already been told this.
And also I don’t tend to play with console players. When I do play Quick play it’s in a 4/5 stack of PC players. So chances are I will not see this symbol often.

I’m not stupid because I’ve never seen your dumb symbol.

But the poster claimed to notice console players based on

Not based on the symbols.

And even then there is quick play MMR so games are reasonably balanced. IF a console player has similar MMR to you, it’s because they are as good as you in other ways.

If you want to avoid it either make a six stack via group finder or get better at the game.

So in most games you have a console player you’ll have another on the other team because matchmaking tries to match console + pc players against each other then fill the gaps. So your games should be evenish and if there not it’s not down to console player but more others memeing or not taking a causal mode seriously or just matchmaking fing up.

Now the other thing if your mmr is high you’ll rarely be matched against console players so if you try to improve more you’ll get less console players.

But really your just complaining that qp isn’t competitive enough. Go to comp. Also qp is for fun not trying to find a scapegoat to tilt at.

The only difference is that you’ll be playing with controller users less often. Still quite a few of us that play with a controller on PC, always has been.

Sadly, Blizzard need this to reduce queue times… Even Paladins have an opt out option.

Just play competitive and take it as a learning experience.

What can you learn from that? How to play competitive without caring whether you win or lose. Rank doesn’t matter.
Just have fun using the tools that Blizzard gave you.

Yeah this feature really made the game worse for pc players. Region lock plus not being able to opt is just unfair and awful.

I am not inviting ANY console players to my games. I do not have a choice in what other people do, and THAT is the issue.

Jeez louise, I don’t think you know much about this game. You get all ranks of people in QP. There’s no so-called “balance” mm’kay?

There is no reason not to have an option to disable cross play. Everyone should be allowed to opt out of it.
