At the higher end, Intel out-preforms AMD for sure, but AMD is more cost efficient. (I currently use AMD)
If you need the CPU right now, then okay, but if you can cancel that order, you should. Both companies are supposed to release the new chips later this year. Same with Nvidia dropping new GPUs.
