Which is the character that says “Reach for the Sky” when they ult.
It’s Willow… a fairy DPS character, not a healer
There is Corvus, a general dude who looks like a typical soldier who uses a gun and holds a knife.
There is also Maldamba, who is a shaman throwing healing bombs and shooting venom from a snake.
If that’s not “proper male representation” then I don’t know what are your unreal expecations.
To be fair, Corvus is more or less a “battle mage” (archtype), found in some fantasy or s.f. armys or mix of them.
Yes Paladins is getting lots of champs but their community seems to be overwhelmed by champs. They want more maps now not champs. At least we know the minimum number of maps we’ll be getting when Overwatch 2 releases:
brig and ashe have NOTHING similar except MAYBE the armor design.
that said people that go “paladins copied ow” dont know squat about common tropes. Even the most similar characters play radically different
fair. there are interactions but they’re more systemic (e.g. kill taunts) and barely any idle chatter interactions. you have to look for the lore fore characters more on paladins compared to OW.
I mean it’s a fair fight. they used to have payload maps that weren’t symmetric, but barely anyone played the mode and so it got removed.
I don’t see how paladins is somehow more varied in match time compared to OW considering how OW is much more snowball-y compared to paladins. not to mention how much more important ults are in OW compared to paladins (i.e. there’s much more “Q2Win” in OW than paladins.
huh? Paladins defs pumps out more cosmetics than OW.
just because they’re in battle passes doesn’t mean that’s not accessible at all to a pure f2p player. like there’s a lot of items in battle passes that you don’t need to pay crystals to get (crystals being their paid currency), the battle passes themselves give you a decent amount of crystals back if you do spend crystals on them, and there are events and challenges to complete to earn crystals. not to mention the battlepasses get pumped out more frequently than OW’s (seasonal) skin releases.
not to mention paladins overall has more kinds of cosmetics too:
player border frame choice, announcer pack (i.e. imagine if you can replace athena’s voice with someone else’s), corpse/tombstone, art shown to players you kill, more weapon skins, being able to mix weapon skin with character skin, difference voices for legendary skins (like nearly every single one unlike OW whereby very few have this) and different ability visual effects per legendary skin.
all of that on top of the stuff that’s also in OW (emotes, sprays, play icons, etc.).
aside from the mention of how crystals can be attained without paying before, if you’re going to include rng lootboxes + earning credit to spend as the “included content for $ spent” for OW, then it’s unfair to not include the fact that you can spend gold (earned currency in paladins and deterministically per match unlike with duplicates in OW’s lootboxes) to unlock characters without needing to pay.
is it a grind? yes, and so are OW’s cosmetics.
I mean… there’s a reason why characters in paladins are a whole lot more independent, there’s an item system, there’s a loadout system, why paladins has more global game mechanics than OW (e.g. diminishing returns, global cc cd, etc.) and why competitive mode has a ban + draft system.
and the reason why paladins doesn’t have a lot of OW’s problems (goats, double shield, heal spam, cc sspam, etc.) is because of all those systems in place. paladins obvs doesn’t have perfect balance, but defs better balanced than OW.
ummm no… because either the match/round has ended or they had to die to be in spawn to actually get those items. if they died, then they’re not really snowballing as hard as you may think. if the round ended without them dying and there’s a big difference in credits, then your team is doing a whole lot worse because getting credits isn’t hard nor is it purely on kills either (e.g. you can get credits for taking damage or shielding, source: Credits - Official Paladins Wiki).
there’s also comeback mechanics in that killing someone with a high kill streak gives you more ult charge (i.e. higher kill target’s kill streak was, more ult charge you get from the kill, source: Ultimate Ability - Official Paladins Wiki) and the losing team can progress objectives faster (source: Comeback Mechanic - Official Paladins Wiki).
and supports in paladins are designed to be dealing damage and applying utility (whether cc, debuffs, buffs, etc.) more rather than just being heal bots… unlike supports in OW whereby every support has a spammable heal method with barely any down time (i.e. heal as primary fire, or heal passively on with 0 cd or duration) ._.
And we have no other choice but to stan!!
Saati will be their 5th champion of the year! Every update they released this year had a new champion. Blizzard/Overwatch WHO??
“Dark elf big booba vampire” [not my words
] is allready beeing shipped with her bounty hunter buddy Kinessa.
I know this is a necro but:
You hit it right on the nail
Not exactly. We’re getting 4 heroes in 2023.
Edit: oh that was 2 hours ago not 2 minutes ago… i just revitalised the necro
Imagine thinking the cinematic are going to be anything special. They aren’t going to look like the YouTube shorts, just the same stuff we already have in the archive missions lol
By “lore,” do we mean when Blizzard hops onto Twitter once a year to announce which hero is gay, or are we talking about the completely incoherent mess of ideas they’ve created and drip feed the community every so often in cookbooks now?
I mean… Sojourn isn’t “new” anymore since she was revealed in 2019. Junkerqueen, Fox Girl and December tank (hope it’s Mauga) are definitely new since they were announced this year.
TBH paladins got new champ like few months ago and its support - Lilith that abilitys based on blood (her hp) shes fun to Play.
Hi-Rez realise more tank and support then blizz DPS.
I always choose quality over quantity to be honest, though that being said I don’t feel any quality neither in Paladins nor Overwatch. I’ve tried to get into Paladins but it feels clunky and unresponsive, while Overwatch feels better to play from a technical perspective but is unbalanced as F.
And neither games I feel are run by a company that has any love for game development, they just spew out things to earn money. No love, no passion, just business
Yeah, but the quality, which people who use this argument are talking about, is legit nowhere to be found
I’d rather have Paladin’s “quantity over quality” than the bare minumum that blizzard is currently trying to sell
I know!
I really like her, but I sadly don’t enjoy playing Paladins all that much - mainly because of the lack of role queue and their anti-healing mechanic. Dealing with flankers is also super annoying, but it’s the least of my issues with this game.
I don’t think either Hi-Rez or Blizzard is doing any good job. One is obsessive over E-Sports and give a flat F about the casual aspect of the game, while the other spew out heroes just to cash in on the F2P aspect of the game in which a lot of players have to buy in on the new heroes.
It’s sad really, when gamers these days are happy choosing between a rotten tomato or a rotten banana. It’s as bad as during the video game crash of 1983-1985, where game companies spewed out low quality games to a point where consumers eventually turned their back on the gaming industry. If we only had 2 options to choose from OK, but we don’t. Why are we allowing companies like Hi-Rez, ActivisionBlizzard, EA and Ubisoft to corrupt the gaming industry to such a degree that consumers actually are happy picking low quality fruits?
It can only get better if we choose neither to be honest, and starts voting with our wallets. But I don’t see that happening any time soon, when a lot of people seem indoctrinated to such a degree that the AAA studios get away with basically anything.
Paladins fails as every hero has antinade.
