Paladins is getting yet another new champ

Paladins has it’s own issues, but it’s not worse than OW right now.

About as much as OW, maybe even more, there is more lore in a paladins bio than most of OW put together. i will probably butcher this so forgive me.

lian, khan, (i am struggling to remember the others atm drink my morning coffee) are a faction at war with the (abyss?).

So like for instance Jenos is a god (of arcane?), whom his worshipers asked for help while dying in battle. He decided to aid them and i think gave up immortality to fight with and help them.

the followers of the moon godess IO were also doing the same, but their prayers fell on deaf ears, causing vora a worshiper of the moon to turn to the darkness for help. IO eventually decided to see why people wernt praising her to find all this out.

Seris and furia are sisters and have their own story line.

exc… exc… like just read the txt bio’s for their 50 champs and you will see the txt bio’s alone have more lore than all of OW combined, and thats not including paladins extra’s for lore.

They got raum and that snake tank guy under control and have little balance issues other than that.

In the high end there is a tier list, but really anything along the lines of, 1 point tank and 1 healer minimum is viable.

and yes they did graphical upgrades and some map changes a few months ago. Like timbermill main capture point had some routes added to make non mobile champions more viable.

Nothing is worse than OW rn.

I love solo healing in Paladins and the problem I have is that people do not care and they will pick second or even a third healer regardless.

That really discourages me from playing

Paladins is arguably more enjoyable than OW now. They have very little, if any, balance issues. They keep getting new content consistently. Their optimization has also drastically increased.

All Overwatch has been giving recently are useless EXP cards that change nothing and reusing old content.

I don’t think Yagorath was really problematic, but he was one of the 2-3 champions where you actually had to counter pick. The only champion I find problematic is Moji.

1 tank 1 healer 3 dps is the standart for QP … one of the things Paladins did better than OW. Most players want to play dps heroes … they idea people don’t want to pick tanks/healers because there are much more dps heroes is total bull****

How’s playing support in Paladins? Like can I Mercy it up or nah :smirk:

Definitely! You can try out Seris

She has a very short cooldown healing ability that works like Mercy’s valkyrie healing that spreads to nearby allies from your initial target.

She also has a very good escape ability and Zarya’s ultimate, so you can make huge plays.

It’s easier to put out new content for a game that’s isn’t as good. Things like balance issues and how new content affects current content don’t matter so much to a game like Paladins. It’s the same reason LoL is able to put out 100+ champions. None of them have any real impact on the game.

Agreed to an extent, the problem was people were banning his counters then first picking him, leaving him unable to be dealt with.

So the dev’s did the smart thing and got the heck away from the counter pick design. No one wants to be forced to spend their time doing something they don’t wanna. (I mean there are some bare minimum things in comp, but it’s really flexible otherwise)

Casuals is just kinda whatever you want, comp is more along these lines. towards masters an offtank is strongly recommended since they hold an off route to keep nutty flankers from just walking in and wrecking face.

like the, I guess meta, was 2 dps spec’ed healers and 2 tanks for a good year. (but wasn’t really necessary, just was a good enough advantage to pry it’s way in)

It’s true, i will always pick cassie if i can, but if not thats okay too.

The problems with tanking and healing in OW are not in Paladins. In OW, people think tanks are supposed to look forward and backward at the same time and are forced to hold hands 24/7. It’s actually worse to hold hands as tanks in paladins, you just play near enough to help if needed and hold different areas

a point tank in paladins, plays point till capture, then moves and hold advantageous areas while using shields to cleanse caut.

Healers are fully capable of dps’ing and healing at the same time.

and people are often happy to tank or heal, heck people fight over it sometimes.

It’s OW’s concept that makes people not wanna tank, imo.

It’s different in concept.

Heal whoever isn’t cauterized end match, dps, fight for yourself and if you get help thats great.

If you arn’t healing and dps’ing you probably arn’t doing your job, which is a big change from OW where you get grief for doing anything but healing.

If you are used to having your hand held, you might have a bad time, the only peels you get will be if people have nothing else to do, since the game isn’t designed around babysitting healers, but instead giving you the ability to do it yourself. (outside some circumstances, like they running multiple flankers)

Like our friend said, seris is kinda like mercy, but not even close at the same time, cauterize can limit her value end match, but you just time your heals for when caut is not on a target instead of clicking furiously.

“The grass is always greener on the other side”.

at least paladin’s lore isn’t stuck at right after the very first cinematic. Overwatch is all backstory and not much else, at least paladins is actually going somewhere

well, for a time pretty much every hero release was a sequel of the previous one. Like, we got Furia’s backstory, which tied her with another character. Furia and a few other characters go on a quest to retrieve a pair of dragon gauntlets and they get attacked by the next hero, Dredge. They recover the gauntlet and give them back to the next hero, Imani and then they all go to the desert to investigate an anomaly which turns out to be Atlas, a person coming from the future.
Atlas himself teased a hero that released a few months back. Plus in most of these trailers there was a guy working for one of the factions which also became a hero later.

In general paladins lore has a better sense of “cohesion” like there’s a neat net of relationships between characters and factions and the morality isn’t super black and white (there’s still clear villains and heroes, but not all people allied with the villains are evil).
I’d say i like Paladins lore more simply because it actually feels like it’s moving. Status quo changes.
Meanwhile overwatch plot has been “Winston recalls overwatch, overwatch comes back” and has stuck there, with everything else just being backstory and flashbacks. The only real event we got was Echo being woken up

Paladins is honestly good fun. Janky yes, but a lot of fun with a TON of variety

it’s different. I think it’s better simply because you are more independent. You are expected to self peel and thankfully the game gives you the tool to do so.
But Paladins also has more focus on the utility part rather than just raw healing. For example Seris can shoot pierce bullets that generate stacks on the enemies that can be exploded for extra damage, which pairs well with her ult (imagine orisa’s halth, but stronger and also stuns whoever is caught in it, it pairs well with her primary fire for a lot of damage). Plus she gets one of the best escape moves in the game, which is basically Moira’s fade, but lasts like 6 seconds.
One of her talents even gives her a hard CC for extra utility.

tl;dr you can take care of yourself, but you have to focus on more than just raw healing.

sucks they dont have a replay system for paladins, had a game with kinessa where i had 76,000 damage. did pretty good that game. overwatch IS better in some areas

honestly the fact that they turned sym from a support to a dps and doomfist was meant to be a tank and he is dps and echo was meant to be a support and is a …you guessed it…dps

it is pathetic and disappointing that they refuse to make actual new tanks and supports for dps

it is quite literally the most requested feature since junkenstein 2016

I assume if Paladins had the same budget it could also improve itself in such areas :frowning:
